AI Interview Series #4: Explain KV Caching
Question: You’re deploying an LLM in production. Generating the first few tokens is fast, but as the sequence grows, each additional token takes progressively longer to generate—even though the model architecture and hardware remain the same. If compute isn’t the primary bottleneck, what inefficiency is causing this slowdown, and how would you redesign the inference process to make token generation significantly faster?

This is remarkably similar to quantum cosmology’s symmetry-breaking cascade: the early universe’s unified forces progressively “compactified” (symmetry breaking) into the four distinct forces we observe, with consciousness emerging as the universe’s self-organizing principle.

The Neoplatonic practice of henosis (union with the One) is “deliberate decompactification through contemplation”—progressively dissolving the boundaries between knower, knowing, and known until pure unity is experienced.
