Digital art program journey?
➡ MS Paint
➡ Photoshop 5.5
➡ Photoshop Element 2 (I think it was 2?)
➡ Photoshop CS2
➡ Photoshop CS6
➡ Photoshop CC2018 (Light/Portable)
➡ Blender 2.8
➡ Blender 3.4
➡ Blender 3.6

I still use CC2018 to make some 3D alpha brushes. I have no reason to update Blender (yet)

PLEASE. I illustrate solely in CSP and can work with vectors, it's not an issue, but rasterized art cannot be turned into vector art later! I have to START in vectors!

I've only had this issue once and thankfully we caught it before the work was finished, so I didn't have to redo too much.
Reminder to everyone hiring an artist: If you need vector files delivered, that needs to be established up-front, before work starts. I cannot give you vector files because I do not work with vectors.

Trying to export hypermall without rasterized text makes affinity crash. No error message, no freezing. It just closes

So um. Woops.

Dust off that ColecoVision from the street 10 years ago, grab the rat king of computer mice in That One Bin, the Arcade Swap Meet is happening!

Join us tomorrow at @wonderville.nyc 2:30-6pm to sell, peruse, or donate a wide range of tech equipment, components, tools and more. Hope to see you there!

This year, we’ve been working with a team of passionate, creative makers to put our open source respirator prototype manufacturing methods to the test. We’re so excited to be introducing you to a couple of them this week. In the meantime, here’s some background on what we’ve been up to: (1/4)

a small amount of caffeine before a weed drink and you too can experience what being rasterized feels like

Scratch Tutorial - Making the most of SVGs

SVG stands for "Scalable Vector Graphics" and is the format individual sprites come out as when exporting them from Scratch.

Unlike rasterized images, they do not lose their quality whenever they are resized. It is a common vector format.

I don't use imagetrace for my fonts because it doesn't do corners no matter what resolution the rasterized image is

I also like to trace pen stroke by pen stroke to be able to make adjustments

alt text that I forgot: the letters R, A, and E written in black script on a white background. The intersections where the pen strokes meet are concave curves instead of sharp angles, like in the original rasterized image

they should let me use aliased fonts in figma . let me use my rasterized tahoma . Grrrr

Some more databending hijinks with rasterized vector assets.

But how much of that is just because they’re more experienced doing those things with rasterized lighting?

I feel like similar things had to have been said about the jump from 2D to 3D given those early 3D consoles have a signature style imposed by their hardware.

not all that interested in AC shadows but it’s the most “RT first, rasterized lighting slapped on for older hardware later” game i’ve seen in a minute

likely that’s just a combination of all their AI and DLSS stuff. 4090 would definitely still beat 5070 with raw rasterized performance and vram but unfortunately developers these days are too lazy to properly optimize so rasterized performance has started to matter less and less

honourable mention, Infinite Design, probably the most intuitive vector illustration app I've tried. I think I paid 15NZD for this

Vector illustration is something I wanted to get into due to the way I do concept art (flat colours), but the jump from rasterized art and vector art is a leap alright

the depth testing is done using a regular rasterized depth buffer, but the face selection isn't!

the box-face intersection is a brute force analytical intersection, it's just running in a compute shader so it's all super parallel and fast!

so yes you can zoom out and still get faces on the same px

omg thank you so much, I really appreciate it! so the gumroad upload allows usage in personal + commercial projects so long as the font files aren't embedded (rasterized forms are good though). the creative market page covers additional licenses such as use as a webfont.

We've passed the point of friendly discourse. We've passed the point of sarcastic discourse. We hurl memes, AI and rasterized text at each other. Social media and the manipulation of it has soured us. There is only the people and the servant rulers. Divided and confused we fail.

Okay so like I definitely support the intent here, & it is beautifully phrased, but... Optical Character Recognition: Exists. 👀 Definitely not saying that that has been IMPLEMENTED, so you definitely NEED to be doing alt text, everyone, but... they *can't* read a rasterized image's text? Bullshit. 😅
auch die schönsten Worte in schönster Schrift auf ein Bild gepinselt kann von einem ScreenReader nicht gelesen werden. Deshalb braucht auch solch ein Bild einen AlternativText Nur so ist Teilhabe möglich. Hashtag Inklusion.

learning such geospatial embeddings. S2Vec uses the S2 Geometry library to partition large areas into discrete S2 cells, rasterizes built environment feature vectors within cells as images, and applies masked autoencoding on these rasterized images to [2/5 of https://arxiv.org/abs/2504.16942v1]

you can use fontforge to make a font, but keep in mind that the characters must be vectorized (i.e. SVGs), not rasterized (i.e. PNGs)

Yup 360 sure blows it away. I sent them an email with my corporate CV I’ve been buying AutoCAD since it was invented. I survived the transition from paper blue prints to digital. You’d think they let a 70yr old doodling a deal. I rasterized the blue prints for oldest church in Canada

Ohh, I see, rasterized rendering with rt reflections ... interesting 🤔
