We are now talking about a height of the mast and also the fact, that sailships aren’t maneuvered like cars, one plans where to go, how to get there and what obstacles are on the way. Speaking as someone with a skipper’s license (for personal sailing only).

Reddit user asked "What is this thing and what does it do? Hold up the bowsprit or just decoration?" Below is a picture of a sailing ship with a section at the front of the ship circled in red. Silly-Membership6350 replies: "The ship's toilets are enclosed within those rails. They were basically just open air benches with holes cut in them that defecating Sailors would sit upon. Hence the word "head" being used to refer to sailor's toilets. These would have been the toilets used by the non-officers. Officers generally had their own bathroom(s) within the section of their quarters aft (where the stern or quarter gallery is) or had bed pans"

I've been seeing a log of photos of Pride of Baltimore on bluesky and it's a really pretty ship so I went to Wikipedia to read about it! Apparently, the one in commission today is the second ship by that name! The first one was in 1977 but was lost at sea in 1986 :(

Photo of the Pride of Baltimore taken in 1981. It's a two-masted topsail schooner, meaning it's main sails go along the length of the ship, rather than perpendicular to it but unlike a regular schooner, a topsail schooner also has perpendicular square sails at the top of its foremast. In case of Pride of Baltimore, it has three triangular sails connected to the bowsprit (the long pole at the front of the ship). Then a trapezoid-shaped sail attached to each mast, two square sails at the top of the foremast and a triangular sail at the top of the mainmast. The vessel itself is brown with a white stripe along the top of the hull.

Hearing people saying that Internal combustion car will live side-by-side with electric cars in the future makes me think how many times in history that happens, we do, in fact, still using analog computers, horses and carriages, sailships for commercial use and Betamax.
