I found one and two thirds saxaphones in the shed. But couldn’t face the turmoil of listing them.
While checking details for my post about Mick Abrahams, who sadly left us on 19 Dec 2025, I discovered that Jack Lancaster, another founder member of Blodwyn Pig, had passed away on 4 May 2025. Jack's playing on saxaphones, flute & violin was integral to the sound of the album 'Ahead Rings Out'.
RIP Mick Abrahams, a great blues/rock guitarist & singer.
Jethro Tull's original guitarist, Mick left to form Blodwyn Pig, releasing their debut album 'Ahead Rings Out' in 1969.
The band split in 1970, but I was lucky to see Mick's reformed Blodwyn Pig play at Alexanders in Chester in the late '90s.

Was at that gig. Utter belter, my pals did the visuals for kieth. My first proper intro to sahko. Jimmy doing take me baby ;) years later i was walking in gorky park moscow, and heard it from a bar…it was him with two saxaphones and some 303’s ;) live. A great gig.

It especially wasn't safe to gather in large groups indoors and sing. It took a while to figure that out, but singing turned out to be deadly.
Instrument playing, too. I saw a video recently with the mouths of saxaphones and clarinets covered with masks.

Calvin is in a Sesame Street mode this morning, playing the theme song at varying speeds. Made me realize you just don't hear Saxaphones as much as you did in the 80s.
Also, the theme song line of "sunny days, where the air is sweet" makes me glad for the EPA all over again.
