I don't have any specific expectations for TRON Ares other than hoping it at least has a comparably cool atmosphere and similarly tight score. I don't expect Oscar writing, of course; these movies always got mixed reviews so its current aggregate isn't too surprising. I just want a fun time.

Also, I (more than most) love to call Clu "CGI Jeff Bridges", since yes, the way he looks is no longer as seamless as it previously looked, but at the same time, the fact that it's specifically a Program and not a User that does the de-aged CGI thing at least has a point for narrative significance.

Speaking about the tonal whiplash, I don't consider it a huge detractor given its target audience and the fact that the first movie had it too; that, and it gave us Castor. Still mad that neither him nor the End of Line Club showed up in the KH3D iteration of this movie. Rouxls Kaard coded ass dude.

62) TRON: Legacy (2010)

No longer bound by my 2010s criticism era, I can say that this movie is amazing. Tonal whiplash aside, it still has an amazing atmosphere, visual style and a god-tier score by Daft Punk. It feels more like an earnest sequel than most which happened around that time. Facts.

And less than a minute in, Legacy's soundtrack returns to my ears once more. Movie literally starts off with a cool ass narration by Bridges and the hardest beats ever with this song. GOD THIS SCORE IS SO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!

61) TRON (1982)

The pacing is a bit straightforward, leaving not much room for the characters to have arcs per se, but I still love the atmosphere and corniness of it all the same. It's also impressive for its time and stories about rogue AIs will always continue to be relevant as tech evolves imo.
