We lost our second tree this calendar year. Lost a massive apparently healthy cherry tree to #StormEowyn in January and last night lost a long-dead hawthorn to #StormBram. In both cases we heard nothing and no secondary damage.
We think the hawthorn below fell in a tribute to Andy Goldsworthy.

By way of comparison, #StormEowyn produced a *gust* of 183 km/h in Ireland, which was a record.

We moved to rural Ireland a year ago and lose electricity every few months, usually for a day or so (one week was the longest after #StormEowyn). Love reading but get very twitchy without TV/internet after a few hours. And reading by candlelight is hard. So yes, I did start going to bed at 8pm...

Out for a wild walk before #StormAmy hits Clare for real. Love me a good storm. There's no bad weather, only bad clothing, and all that...

Say a little prayer for my #StormEowyn damaged ancient Horse Chestnut tree though 😬🙏 She's lopsided and heavy with leaves.

#StormEowyn was the UK’s most powerful wind storm for over a decade, a 100mph wind gust was recorded in #Lanarkshire.

💨Impacts: @metoffice.gov.uk issued a Red Warning for wind, and wider Amber Warning. Unfortunately there were 2 fatalities, 1m homes without power & thousands of trees blown down.

I walked past the #StormEowyn log piles up at Mongorry Forest. It took three minutes. This is the video speeded up. That's a lot of Pulp.

*Trigger* stillbirth

Our local park lost several magnificent trees in #StormEowyn. @lisburncastlereagh.bsky.social agreed to provide our local community arts group with a selection of rounds.

Several local #artists are now working on a collaborative project to create pieces on the former trees

We finally had a tree surgeon in yesterday to clear some fallen trees from #StormEowyn - lots of work to do now in clearing & stocking up the wood shed! But I also met a new neighbour who's a bit shy but I reckon they can be won over with carrots... #MayoLife #Woodland

May Day flowers! So much lost during #StormEowyn (that I'm only just discovering) but life finds a way. Joyous Bealtaine blessings! #MayDay2025 #itsthesimplethings

Half of back fence was damaged during #StormEowyn Although it's ours (we think!) neighbours behind had previously paid for replacement as former owners here were tricky over it. So they're bearing cost of replacement, but we needed 6 posts replacing. (Panels not great but have been salvaged.)

It's turned it into a wonderful interactive work of art which kids can explore and clamber all over. I don't know who it's by, but it's been signed by the artist (bottom right photo)

Love these sculptures carved into a single tree which came down in Victoria Park in Glasgow during Storm Eowyn, which hit the city in January 2025.
