Richard Lester was an early collaborator of Sellers & Milligan and this comedy teensploitation musical was a kind of dry run for A Hard Day's Night - innovative & influential!

The current administration is basically every antagonist from every 80s teensploitation film. Spoiler: didn’t end well for them.

I miss the “Shakespeare, but make it teensploitation” era.

To an Alan Freed, he'd be rock-'n'-roll. In one of Freed's teensploitation films, he gives the Basie band some fake "rock-'n'-roll Band of the Year" award, as an excuse to put them in the movie. The record-burning animus in the South applied to old black folks like Turner and Rufus Thomas too.

Reading reviews of The Lost Boys. From Variety: "a horrifically dreadful vampire teensploitation entry that daringly advances the theory that all those missing children pictured on garbage bags and milk cartons are actually the victims of bloodsucking bikers."

Didn't they make bad teensploitation movies about these guys in the 50s but with berets and rambling about Jack Karouac or some shit

I think it might be "Where The Heart Is" by Billie Letts, though i didn't think I was still reading teensploitation novels that late (1995, age 17)

the memoir scene I was gonna reference it in was set in 1993 so: it just became a 1996 scene 😅

It didn't exactly tick all the exploitation boxes I was hoping it would. But it's a serviceable coming of age story, nevertheless, with some touches of teensploitation in there. And it's Carl Franklin's second film, which is another reason I wanted to see it.

And I wanna say Automaton Transfusion feels like what would happen if Leif Jonker made a zombie movie at Troma. And it leaves exposition for the final five minutes, to make room for the zombie violence, gore and teensploitation.

BRICK is perfect *for me* as it gets to have its teensploitation cake and eat it too with hardboiled frosting. I would absolutely say its at that level, but if someone thought it was too cute by half, I would understand completely.

I have a LOT of books to recommend. I narrowed it down to 4 (?) for our West Side Story episode, but I have a Zotero database that is all about 50s teensploitation cinema, plus a huge folder of articles and a digital book under construction

My music has been oldies since the teensploitation era began.
Yes, your music is now "oldies." It's not up to you.
