Tigridia pavonia - Peacock Tiger Iris, Tiger Flower.

A flamboyant climate change winner. Native to Isthmus of Darien & #Mexico, has escaped in the UK and apparently taking hold in the E & S in the new hot, dry summers.

The first of the Tigridia opened. It's been a scorching few days here. Bit better today as there is a breeze. Temperature currently is 22° in the Shade. 🌱

I bought Dahlia tubers and Tigridia bulbs today.
For hubby’s gluten-free breakfast: watermelon, strawberry, cucumber, tomatoes, cheeses, wild mushroom salad, radishes, grapes, Cantaloupe melon, zucchini apple, cabbage.
We went to play pinball at Hopeakuula Arcade, it was fun! 🍜

Aarteita Lidlin laareista. Gladiolusta muistuttava ihmeellinen tiikerikukka kukkii vain yhden päivän. Mutta voi veljet ja sisaret miten upeasti se tuon päivän käyttääkään!

We've been places and seen things. Like rushing water and butterflies and pretty flowers. Stop and take a look with us instead of doomscrolling. h2g2.com/entry/thepost

Just tending pots of garden plants & noticed water droplets on the leaves of the Tigridia pavonia, it’s a phenomenon known as guttation, where excess water is exuded as droplets from the edges of leaves rather by transpiration through the stomata. I’ve seen it before on Musa ensete a few years ago.

The most stunning flower I have ever seen. 👀

"Tigridia is a thing of exotic beauty! Each one lasts for only a day, but a succession appears over several weeks at the end of summer."

The bulbs were bought at Dolleramma!

🌱A really good soaking rain yesterday. Now I need a few days of sun please! For #flowersonFriday, a beautiful Tigridia in the Exotic garden at Wisley. It is at its peak and well worth a visit.

Another bulb, or corm, you should order now and plant in March is Tigridia, the Mexican Tiger-flower. This is a wildly beautiful, exotic-looking thing. #gardening

Tigridia pavonia, also known as the jaguar or tiger flower.

They're meant to have three petals but this one went with four.
