#WyrdWednesday In 1584, in Somerset, Margaret Cooper was possessed by the Devil and took to her bed. One night after weeks of torment a phantom headless bear materialised in her room, grabbed her, shoved her head between her legs and rolled her round like a hoop for 15 minutes.

If you haven't watched the video abstract about Veronika the tool-using cow, you really should, especially the message from her owner at the end! It cleanses the timeline a bit.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

The first mural I ever painted (1997) was at the Dudley Museum & Art Gallery. Part of the mural featured a pliosaur; I reworked the pliosaur pose in my 2009 "Leviathan" painting for The Etches Collection.

This candled egg is a living breathing beacon of hope to conservation scientists. A new life, an ancient lineage thriving despite it all. This is what we work towards.
Working with #kakapo, this is the best thing you'll ever see. When "candling" an egg you hold your breath, hoping to see this: beautiful embryo development in a fertile egg. This is Tiwhiri's second egg, about 8 days old. About half of eggs are infertile. #kakapo2026 #conservation #birds

You may not know much about Norfolk on this list...

... but I wrote about Fatehi's reelection win last June: bsky.app/profile/tani...
NEW: This Virginia city has seen years of heated debate over criminal justice reform. Progressive officials moved to stop adult charges for kids, weed cases, mandatory minimums; it's all run into fierce opposition from other leaders.

Then, the reform prosecutor won last week. I wrote about it:

One thing I’m not seeing a lot of talk about after this intense storm, is that climate breakdown is driving the extreme precipitation. Just like the extreme rainfalls we had this summer. Each 1C of additional heating brings about 7% more atmospheric moisture.
