Hey it's *Bandcamp Friday* again. The best day to go find that artist who was top of your Spotify unwrapped and actually buy their music, because all the proceeds go to them today. And by god do musicians need it.

Not had much time to be online this last week but can't miss Krampus night!
One of my favourite pieces of Krampus art too.

I also just found this very early example, "Krampus and St. Nicholas from the journal of Carl Baumann 1813-25" that I've not seen before.

Candlesnuff fungus, rising up like a ghostly apparition from the rainforest floor and waving its limbs.

A saprotrophic species, it helps break down deadwood. It's also bioluminescent, emitting a faint green light by night.

Beneath our feet are the corpses of trees, forests of coal like a subterranean fairy tale, the collective unconscious of a city. In underground rivers, the only fish are ghosts of drowned miners.

I hear them sometimes—men, boys—the lost voices echo in sunless streams.

Grendel is a monster in Beowulf & the Anglo- Saxon Chronicle. He's described as a monster, probably a giant who lives in aquatic areas, like fens and marshes. He was killed by Beowulf & his mother then attempted to avenge him & was also killed.

Just a solid gold banger collection of misericords spotted at Great Malvern priory earlier. A mix of late 14th, 15th and 19th century carvings. Demons and witchery galore along with more prosaic depections of monthly farming chores. The cheeky winged fella with splayed legs is my favourite...

One from the vaults! Naturally this selection of ghostly books for winter has to include one of the legion of volumes edited by the tireless Peter Haining, and this is also the perfect collection for the coming festive season. #books #ghosts #Christmas

So, to my mind this should be classed as a cryptid as its existence is based on anecdotal evidence. Any cryptozoologists want to be in with a chance of actually discovering a new species for once should go looking for it. @bestcryptids.bsky.social
bryologists please keep your eyes out for the legendary American Moss Shrimp, probably about 1 mm long and looking something like this

Even in winter, the wood whispers to tramp its paths. Its Sprites and Woodwose may sleep through days demanding our heaviest coats, but its mysteries do not. Bare branches scratch the low sky and still its mysteries sing. We walk for wonder. We walk for cold magics. – #EmilyCBanting, 1981

Your yearly reminder that it’s almost time to prepare the prune Krampus
Forget cheese and pineapple hedgehog, every party needs an edible Krampus. Especially knowing how much children love prunes.

Fruit trees benefit all sorts of wildlife, including bees, bats and birds. But around two thirds of UK orchards have been lost since 1960. Planting an apple tree in your garden or community can really help to boost biodiversity.
