#COMPANIONSofCHRISTMAS: Belsnickel!

Belsnickel was a hermit in Germany’s large and wild Black Forest, a fur trapper who wanted nothing more than to be left alone, but he lived near the entrance of a cave that children from a nearby village liked to explore. 1/

Just watched an episode of 1972 courtroom drama 6 Days of Justice recently uploaded to Youtube and written by noted Wiccan author Stewart Farrar, in which a Wiccan clairvoyant is accused under the 1951 Fraudulent Mediums Act of obtaining money under false pretences.

This fierce folk creation by Amandine Barbet, stands guardian in the dampened marsh, born of the earth's oldest secrets, a beautiful vision of wild, witchy art.

Day 7 of the #HooklandChristmasTree. We hang the water folk St. Nicholas toy. Not the plump red-coated icon of most, but a ragged bishop fishing for Stay Belows with a ham dangling from his crosier. Yesterday was his feast and a little too much apple brandy was drunk on the canal.

Anyone out there got a copy they could upload to Youtube?
Something I'd love to see again. 'The Recordist' (1991) 10 minute film from BBC2's 10x10 series. 'A ghost story for Midsummer's Eve. On the shortest night of the year a sound recordist has a close encounter with the Dark Ages.' With

Now comes a winter of ghosts and those beasts that live at the edges of fever when it has turned to shiver. In this season's shortened light, rain grows sharp teeth and wind becomes a spearpoint against bones. Even dawn seems reluctant to hoist hope high. – #DAKilroy, 1982 #Dawn

The sjoufert is a fiery ghost in Flemish folklore who often appears near swamps. In one tale, people who lived near a swamp whistled at him. They fled into their house as the very angry ghost flew behind them. He left four paw prints on their door that never disappeared.

Folk Horror Bunting!

Featuring dark folklore themed linocut illustrations, I've carefully printed the lino directly onto wooden bunting. There are nine different prints across nine bits of plywood measuring approximately 15cm x 13cm each.
