Well over 200 people attended our biggest townhall of the year, and one of the largest events we've ever hosted - the Streetcar Summit!

We shared rider experiences on the streetcar system, and discussed potential fixes and solutions to make service fast, reliable, accessible, and world-class.

We held community workshops across the city - North York, Scarborough, Midtown, and beyond. We won fare capping in the 2026 City Budget (and we'll work hard to make sure that 2026 Budget passes!). We did a station makeover and successfully convinced the TTC to adopt a new wayfinding standard.

It's time for TTCriders' Wrapped. Here's some of the biggest accomplishments we've had in 2025!

Could be long bathroom breaks, ± taking their full allotted break even though they may have arrived at the terminus late. I've witnessed both, plus a line up of streetcars at terminus loops. TTC really needs terminus supervisors to resolve this crappy situation. @TTCRiders

@TTCRiders
All the Toronto streetcar discourse has had me looking at a lot of TTC stringlines, and I must say, it seems there's an incredibly opportunity for quick improvement there with some basic terminal ops fixes.

Why was nearly every streetcar *entering service* on this random wednesday late?

@mayoroliviachow.ca & @cllrjamaalmyers.bsky.social have a rare chance to significantly improve LRT & streetcar speeds and reliability. Let's make it happen! @TTCRiders
Powered by wishful thinking.
But Olivia Chow has the opening to improve the entire tram network at a moment when no one would be dumb enough to oppose fixing it
“Starting in 2009 TTC’s system wide transit map “Rideguide” started labelling downtown tramways with median dedicated lanes (509/510 and 513) using an oxymoronic title of “streetcar rapid transit” until 2014 when the system wide transit maps were redesigned.”

Maybe this potentially life-saving info ought not to be hidden behind the Toronto Star's paywall, so here is the key takeaway: there's a panel at each end of each subway station with a large red button to cut power (you have to break the glass) and an emergency phone to contact transit control.

In partnership with Transit Action Ontario and TTCriders, we presented recommendations in November to Metrolinx concerning the renaming of transit stations. These proposals take into account the introduction of new stations and various regional transit considerations.

I wanted to compare what I saw on Seattle's Line 1 LRT with Toronto's Finch LRT.

In Seattle, you can see left turning cars waiting while fast-moving transit gets priority. Help TTCriders make it happen in Toronto: www.ttcriders.ca/greenlight

TTCriders just held a press conference at City Hall to call for transit signal priority & other measures to speed up Line 6 & rest of the streetcar/LRT network!

It's embarassing that the $3.7-billion Line 6 is operating at slower speeds than the bus it replaced. This is unacceptable. Fix the 6!
December 10, 2025 at 5:20 PM
Fully agree. Unfortunately I get the sense that even among advocates (including TTCriders) this is a fairly controversial statement.
December 10, 2025 at 2:02 AM
I’m just hoping they can actually get it done.

Here’s a better explanation as well from TTCRiders:

TTCriders spoke up today in favour of funding a better, more affordable TTC and City with an increase in the tax on luxury home purchases. And it passed - onwards to City Council to be part of next year's Budget!

Taxing the rich to fund the bus, we always love to see it!

Finally back at Finch West. This trip on Line 6 is complete.

A very un-TTC upholstery pattern and colour. Almost too cheerful and joyful for Toronto.

But still fabric, always with fabric. Can we get away from this and have easier to clean public seating?
