Nie po to Solidarność z Lechem Wałęsą wyprowadzała nas z rosyjskiej strefy , nie po to weszliśmy do NATO i Unii Europejskiej , by dziś to Nawrocki podważał .

Polska jest na Zachodzie . Kropka .

Lech Wałęsa and his entourage once zoomed past me as I was on my way to teach a class.
What is YOUR most mundane celebrity encounter?

Belle and Sebastian asked me to hold the elevator for them at a Holiday Inn in Paris, after a gig...

I bet she saw an article about Lech Walesa one time and that was the extent of her research on Polish names😭

Poland’s former president and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Lech Wałęsa has been named “ambassador of freedom” for Cuba by members of the country’s diaspora in Miami in recognition of his long-standing support for human rights and the push for democratic change on the island.

20 lat temu w Salt Lake City Lech Wałęsa, był w gronie osób niosących olimpijską flagę na stadionie.

Sending a warmhearted shout-out to my new followers from Poland 🇵🇱 .

As a Hungarian-American born stateside to an immigrant family fleeing Soviet persecution, and inspired by Lech Wałęsa & Solidarność, it is an honor and a privilege to meet you.

To better days ahead.

Polish anti-Communist dissidents like Michnik, Kuroń or Wałęsa didn't hide their identities. They may have hidden their whereabouts, sometimes for a long time like Frasyniuk, but not their names or faces.

Just bizarre the concern trolls chasing stancil on this nonsense.

These clowns would be ranting about Lech Walesa being too high profile and not practicing OPSEC if they had been around at the time

Just pathetic loser energy.
Right, there were a couple stories about DHS using facial recognition technology and now people are going absolutely crazy about the prospect that their face might be captured. The paranoia is nuts - you're not doing anything illegal! But they've made you afraid to go outside!
I’m not a conspiracy guy but it seems like if I were a TLA attempting to actively undermine a movement then turfing up a whole bunch of anti-visibility rhetoric would be a great way to discredit the people trying to share the very legal things that are happening with the rest of the world

…Lech Wałęsa takes a moment to remember how he marched through Gdansk ports on the North Sea during Soviet-imposed martial maw thirteen winters in a row as he adjusts his readers to see the google translation of "fuck 'em kids" from Polish to English…

I wrote about the fight against fear. Hundreds of thousands turned out at every stop on Pope John Paul II's pilgrimage. People realized they were not alone and overcame their fear. And Lech Walesa became president 10 years later. That's why what happened in Minneapolis Friday is so encouraging.

Read some history Atticus. He most certainly did. Poland was part of the Soviet Bloc. Walesa lead the civil resistance led to Poland’s first free elections. He won the Nobel in 1983, with broad civic support, the citizenry toppled communism in Poland.
Read a book!

I work with some very smart, younger people. A few months ago I saw Lech Walesa was speaking newby. It freaked me out that no one had heard of him.

I think we keep wanting one of our traditional institutions to bail us out of this disaster, as they are supposed to do. But it’s not going to happen. We need to save ourselves via massive resistance, as Solidarity did in Poland in 1980-83. The problem: Where is our Lech Walesa?
January 21, 2026 at 1:48 AM
Sadly, we don’t seem to have a Lech Wałęsa. And I can be objective and say that a lot of US citizens are too comfortable/too disconnected/too polarized.

And woefully ignorant of the rest of the world. When I said to someone I’d be okay with a Nicolae Ceaușescu ending, they were like, “who?” Sigh.

OTD January 15 1981 - Lech Walesa, the leader of the independent Polish trade union Solidarność (Solidarity), meets with Pope John Paul II.

The two men met privately for approximately a half hour before a wider public meeting was held.
