With Japanese history, that's like, the only reaction that's sensible. I am still in the weeds explaining to a weeb that China did not copy Japan. Weatherford is great for a narrative that pulls students in and will get them interested in reading the primary or scholarly sources that can be dry.

There was a Japanese restaurant down a little side street in Peterborough (right next to Games Workshop) and it was the first place I ever ate Japanese food other than M&S sushi. That may not sound like much, but I'm the UK outside of the big cities, it was a huge deal to a weeb like me.
