Scenes of pastoral idyll on the old Rhysnant Hall estate

I seem to have lost my holiday away oomph without Gill around. With a week off next week I’m just not feeling like heading off to a distant cottage on my own and doing lots of solitary walking. Will have to head to the sea to clear the mind I think and do some Mid/North Wales trips.

There’s probably a rational explanation but over the last week I’ve been smelling wafts of Gills gentle Jo Malone perfume when entering the bedroom or at the foot of the bed. I’ve checked the perfume bottles & can’t smell any leakage. It’s odd, but rather nice to be haunted by the smell of someone 🙂

Oh, never realised there is a Badger Day! That was well timed 🙂

Standoff at noon with a young badger on the lunchtime dog walk. Not afraid of us at all and just kept on coming so I lifted Lola out of the way and the badger ambled on past us - quality moment 🙂

Sunday morning chilled status with the new album from Patrick Watson - uhoh. Gorgeous mix of acoustic, gentle electronic textures, latin touches, choral-like backing & of course his distinctive vocals. A real beauty 👍

You can’t watch Strictly Come Dancing when you own a Border Collie 😁

Enjoying a version of 1603 Japan in the Ghost of Yotei PS5 game. It’s more like an interactive movie than playing a game in these large open world historical blockbusters. Nice to have a female protagonist this time - I thought Jin in Ghost of Tsushima was quite miserable 🙂 Loving the quiet moments

Haven’t bought any poetry books for a while & I miss the the thrill of finding a poem that references the mundane things in life but then gives them a little twist, or a really good provocative nature/current affairs poem that gets its message across with vivid subtlety. Thought I would try these..

A nice bit of the Forden to Caersws Roman road confirmed in evaluation trenches ahead of development near Newtown.

Well that’s my rainy weekend entertainment sorted 🙂 Off to early 17th century Hokkaido in Japan for a sumptuous open world adventure 👍

I’m sure that scarecrow moved 🤔😁 . It’s like something in a rural folk horror story out there this morning.

I buy pretty much everything the LArpeggiata early music ensemble do under the direction of Christina Pluhar. Such lively & dynamic performances & always trying something new. Also if you want to discover Greta Thunberg’s mother in perfect mezzo soprano mode this is the CD for you 👍🎶 #earlymusic

I think it was included on iPhone Pro models from the iPhone 12 upwards so it might be worth looking out for a secondhand model 👍

The orb was doing its thing blossoming out from behind cloud over the weekend

It’s even better when you can sneak in and enjoy the atmosphere of the place isn’t it. I had to do that a lot at Scottish abbey sites because they were all closed for safety checks.

Classic Sunday afternoon vibes from Lola chilling to music with me on the sofa 🙂🎶

Amazingly weathered by the wind isn’t it 🙂👍

Giving the new Sam Prekop album Open Close a whirl. As usual it’s a masterpiece of gentle rhythmic and melodic development from a master of his modular electronic machines.

👍 I got there 10am just as it opened to maximise the solitude. Just birdsong and the occasional bustle from the town waking up.
