Grossman is one of the most important living Israeli writers.

His son died in the 2006 Lebanon war, 2 days after Grossman, AB Yehoshua & Amos Oz called for a ceasefire.

"Of course I am grieving, but my pain is greater than my anger," he said 4 mos later, calling for a Pal state.
