I have two kids in elementary. I support teachers as I've been in the classroom as a parent volunteer and education is falling apart horribly right now. Dani and Co? They wouldn't last 5 min in a classroom trying to do what teachers do EVERYDAY.

In 2014 #ableg tried to change license plates & people criticized the redesign as diverting attention, calling it a “political ploy.” Today, similar skepticism arises .. we see the license plate change as symbolic theatrics rather than substantive governance.

Wing Li, of @sosalberta.bsky.social, did an excellent job of addressing common arguments. It doesn't make sense when we fund public schools at the lowest per student level.

It shows funding flat around $12,000 per student until a rise in 2016 under the NDP but then dropping precipitously from 2022, currently just over $11,000.

Meanwhile funding for private school students has steadily risen and is now only $1,500/student less than public.

Also marked are Canadian averages in both categories:
Alberta public funding is $3,950 less than the average
Alberta private funding is $5,000 more than the average

The results show school aged children are 56%, NDP voters are 87%, while UCP voters are 28%, in favour of the teachers.
The results show school aged children are 27%, while the UCP are 40% in support of the government. The margin of NDP voters in support of the government is too small a percentile to view.
The results show school aged children are 20%, NDP voters are 8%, while UCP voters are only 28%, in favour of neither the teachers nor the government.
Overall, Alberta shows 58% are in support of the teachers, while 21% are in support of the government, while 18% are Neither.
