a key thing about vought — and all of these guys — is that they have a totally top down and hierarchical vision of the world. they believe that the cultural changes they hate can be turned off by destroying the federal government because they can’t imagine that they emerged bottom-up in society

What he’s railing against is a profound shift in culture, status… He’s obsessed with the idea that America is controlled by a leftist “ruling elite” - but “elite” isn’t defined socio-economically or by political power, it means something like: Getting to define “real America” and who gets to belong.

Atlantic writers outrage farming on here with their shitty takes is just so, so, so tiresome. Take your getting yelled at kink and practice it in private, please.

Once American democracy made it possible for a Black man to be elected president, American conservatives decided that it had to be destroyed

While Vought traces the “leftwing revolution” back a hundred years, to the progressive era, there is no question that the election of Barack Obama was a radicalizing moment for him and many key thinkers on the radical Right - as were the multiracial protests in the summer of 2020.

Every time someone makes me read something Peter Thiel said it’s like “Scrooge McDuck is Jesus Christ and Huey, Dewey, and Louie are Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel and Daisy is Mary Magdalene and that’s why women voting has lowered American sperm count.”

I think bar associations really have a role to play in this revolting state of affairs. The arguments are in such blatant bad faith, the people making them should be shunned by their peers.

The case against Comey is beyond weak. The case against James is worse. It is based on a lie, and they know they're lying because exculpatory evidence that contradicts the indictment had already been presented to a grand jury in another jurisdiction. Everyone involved with this needs to be disbarred

“Who was president in 2020?” remains one of the most pertinent questions in American politics—absurd, yes, but here we are—and that extends to “who was president January 1 - 19, 2021?”

That’s a nice trick, since Biden wasn’t the president on Jan 6.

Bondi: "We've been living through a horrific cycle of political violence in this country ... night after night antifa wrecks havoc on the streets of our cities. In Minnesota, a gunman murdered a state lawmaker and her husband."

I’ve been wondering if swapping Barham to DE so late is causing problems because he’s not strong/experienced enough to set the edge every time, so they’re trying to cope.

Yeah, I figured losing two out of three in Norman, Lincoln, and LA seemed most probable. Off night for the team, but I think 9 regular season wins is still on the table.

The commentators breezed right past it and made me wonder if I’d missed something.

Yeah, so it goes. Hope it’s a useful learning moment and that the D can fix the issues that really let the game get away.

After spending 43 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, evidence hidden by the prosecution reversed his conviction. Rather than finally enjoying freedom, ICE abducted him for deportation

Depraved.

The security camera footage of ICE goons chasing people and, in turn, being followed by a videographer fill me with burning contempt.

It’s wild the agents who have videographers following them never seem to have footage of what they claim those they are arresting did

This government is a well-oiled machine that’s definitely not suffering from internal power struggles hastily papered over as technical mistakes
The employees "were sent incorrect
notifications, which was fixed last night and this morning with a technical correction," a senior administration official said. "Any correction has already been remedied."
