Thankfully, some of yesterday's CDC firings have been rescinded.

But this should be a major scandal, not business as usual in this shitshow of an administration. It's either spectacular incompetence or an effort to make even politically untouchable positions feel precarious to those in them.

As a fashion historian, I will die on this hill: the point of having blue hair and nose rings (or spiky nails or stripper heels or tattoos or an all-black wardrobe) is not to look pretty or cool. There are some stories that I kind of want to be surprised by. I want to follow the chain of cause and effect from scenes that I know to scenes that I don't and see where it leads. But I've had stories lately that were too complicated to hold every part in my memory, so outlining was necessary.

Every time I think about not writing, it simply does not compute. I couldn't stop if I tried. But also, every time I sit down to write, I waffle and moan and procrastinate like a teenager before finally doing it.

I feel like people who don't do art don't really understand the ongoing joke about how we don't wanna write/draw/etc.

We do actually really want to. In fact, it is not possible to stop us.

It's just that a lot of the creative process looks a lot like doing the dishes or staring at the wall.
