I keep waiting for the powers that be in media to grasp the concept of bad faith, realize how often "restore trust in news" and similar statements mean "stop doing journalism, lie more in ways I like," come from people ideologically committed to destroying trust in news, and can never be satisfied.

Bruce Harrell's attempts to paint @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social as an outsider when she's lived here for 21 years are actually pretty reflective of the way he treats his constituents. Those who weren't born here like he was or who aren't wealthy like he is are not worthy of his consideration.

CHS: It stood out when I was looking through your budget plan for this coming year how important JumpStart really is in the city. Talk about how your mind has changed around JumpStart.
Harrell: Justin, what you did, and this is all in respect, I did not give you a token compliment when I said, "l like what you do." I've always thought when I read your work, I think you're very factual and you're fair, and that's the only thing I am. So let me say this — there's usually a "but" right?

I see what you’re pointing at, but if I had to guess: put Harrell and Wilson in a room with no phones or other staff, and quiz them about the 2025-26 Seattle budget.

I can almost guarantee you that Wilson knows and understands more about the budget than Harrell without his staff.
