Upzone these 2 precincts first
Seattle's proposition 1, funding education, won in all but 2 of Seattle's 2038 precincts.

It's weird to call people in their late 30s/early 40s youthful
Congratulations to Girmay Zahilay, new King County Executive, and Katie Wilson, new Seattle Mayor, bringing fresh, youthful leadership to Washington State.

Personally, I'm hoping CM Hollingsworth interprets this as a call to action to throw her hat in the ring for Council President or Budget Chair. Strauss can't do both.
“I’m gonna get in trouble for this but I don’t care. Joy Hollingsworth i gotta shout u out…I’m counting on u” oh this is so threatening and scary

When I took over for Devin at Be:Seattle, Katie became one of my organizer role models too. Something I've always admired about her is that she never made things personal--it was always about outcomes.
When I started @beseattleorg.bsky.social Katie was one of my organizer role models. Then, as I transitioned to the City, I was lucky to work w/ her on a number of innovative policy changes. Unlike many other organizers, myself included, I never saw her go negative & that is her strength. 👏👏🥳 Seattle

Am I wrong in thinking Seattle DSA should have been courting Katie Wilson to join them and build power? I know that's not how endorsements *typically* work but they could have built a relationship with the future socialist mayor and grown their base significantly
Katie Wilson being a socialist will come up a lot, particularly from the right. It’s true she identifies that way, as she told Danny Westneat. But I found it interesting that Seattle’s DSA chapter voted against endorsing her. Unlike Mamdani, she’s not affiliated with any socialist organizations.

I’m thankful for brave women like Lindsey Boylan in NY and Monisha Harrell in Seattle.

They stood up to men in power, held them accountable, didn’t relent, and helped defeat them. All at great personal cost.

Waiting for today's ballot drop so I can get another hit of dopamine seeing Katie Wilson pull even further ahead

This was the "something left-leaning" that Nelson thought would win her some points with progressives, but it actually wasn't all that great. It allowed for creation of tiny, noisy apartments in an area with few amenities (no grocery store!).
JUST IN: Washington's Growth Management Hearings Board has invalidated the Seattle City Council's ordinance legalizing housing in a small slice of SoDo near the sports stadiums, siding with the Port of Seattle in its appeal against the move.

I was diagnosed with Celiac disease on Friday. Like many other ADHDers, my relationship with food is complicated. I have sensory issues that limit what I eat, I forget or refuse to eat when I am hyperfocused, and I use food as a source of dopamine. I'm really overwhelmed

Just reading this made me feel queasy, but it's information that Seattleites need to know
My latest about contingency plans (or lack of them) for increased ICE enforcement and/or National Guard deployment in Seattle.

If you've been hoping SPD might intervene on behalf of Seattle residents, you might want to read until the end.

I've already been missing Cascade PBS's coverage. High quality reporting and not locked behind a paywall, which meant I could share articles knowing folks wouldn't have a problem accessing it.
Halloween was my last day at Crosscut/Cascade PBS, a month after my team was laid off. What do we lose when we lose a newsroom? Even before I was an editor there, Crosscut amplified abortion access and reproductive health policy coverage while other newsrooms waited for Dobbs to force the issue.
