This isn’t funny. Judges only speak to the press when they’re in extreme distress
leahlitman.bsky.social
More judges speak to the press (the NYT) about what a disaster the Supreme Court (specifically the shadow docket) has been - “incredibly demoralizing & troubling”; a “judicial crisis”; a “slap in the face to district courts.” www.nytimes.com/2025/10/11/u...

Trump clearly decided that rapid identification of public health threats to the U.S. is something that only Democrats want.

Public health largely began in the military because once upon a time, leaders understood that disease is the greatest threat to militarily readiness. That’s over.

The editors of the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) were apparently fired today.

The precursor to MMWR began in 1878 to address emerging public health threats rapidly.

We are not “great” without it. We are vulnerable to threats from sporadic foodborne illness to bioterrorism.

You could make a very compelling Humane Society commercial using only images of my pampered, well fed dog sitting in crate after a warm bath administered by a large doofus (yours truly).

Big dumb humans are apparently quite mean what with their stupid “no fecal matter in fur” rule.

I think puppy learned a valuable lesson this morning: If you don’t want to take a bath in the sink, you shouldn’t poop the bed.

Love it. Public companies are required by law to adopt and publish a code of conduct. Ergo, codes of conduct are meaningless and investors cannot rely on them as truthful statements of corporate policy.

My boss: so how's our fourth quarter looking?

Me, the sales manager at the company that makes inflatable frog suits: well, you're never going to believe this, but

The Trump DOJ has insisted for months that the third country removal of Abrego Garcia would be handled like any other case. Now an admin official testifies that the White House was directly involved in picking Uganda. I believe this is the first confirmation of White House involvement in AG's case.

Schultz: "We were notified that Uganda was the country."

Q: Who notified you?

A: So I was told from the [White House] Homeland Security Council?

Asked whom, Schultz says: "I spoke to Matt Ochoa."

Picture how big the Hoover Dam is. An absolute unit. The Hoover Dam has a power capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW).

The solar farm that the Admin just cancelled could have produces 6.2 GW of power. That's more than 3 Hoover Dams.

SCOOP: The Bureau of Land Management says the largest solar project in Nevada — the Esmeralda 7 mega-farm — has been canceled

The news was quietly dropped via a sudden website update with no public word from any of the companies involved or a statement from the agency

Esmeralda 7 Solar Project Has Been Canceled, BLM Says
It would have delivered a gargantuan 6.2 gigawatts of power.

One of my favorite moments from Nobel Prize history:

The Nobel Committee couldn’t reach Stanford professor Paul Milgrom to let him know that he had been awarded the Nobel Prize for Economics, so his fellow winner, Robert Wilson, went over to his house in the middle of the night to wake him up!

We call this "federalism"

"With the benefit of clarity under the federal securities laws, I hope that the Delaware legislature will revisit the prohibition of both mandatory arbitration and fee shifting with respect to federal securities law claims."

I've been wondering why Dominion Voting Systems suddenly reached settlements with Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, and One America News.

Turns out, it's been purchased by a Republican-owned election tech firm that insisted on it, per Axios.
