An embarrassment of riches to choose from this year, but I think this what I've settled on. Hate I can't make Alice, Sweet Alice work, but the Swan Archive presentation with Phantom's too cool to miss.

There's been a nonstop theatre of fear and anger all my adult life, basically since the fall of the Soviet Union. All that leftover anti-Commie angst got mixed up with a scandal-rocked Religious Right and turned inward on you and me. The Left, Democrats, activism, now democracy itself is the enemy.

I keep thinking about how a term like NSPM-7 would've worked up the black helicopters crowd even a decade ago. They went wild for shadowy acronyms and mystery directives. Now it's public and un-American as fuck, but they're in charge, or adjacent-enough to those in charge, and it's all good to them.
