Bigger dragons tend to attach to more important people, so questions of succession might be influenced by dragon size!Even though the dragons studiously avoid politics, the presence of the dragons likely helps the incumbent leaders and thus reinforces the status quo.

Even if people aren't particularly religious, they would still have unconscious biases. Thinking that a ruler 'just doesn't look kingly without a dragon' or thinking someone 'must know what they are talking about' just because they have a dragon with them.

I imagine the effect is greatest in Ryukahna'i, where dragons and the Exalted One are more respected. In extreme cases, people might see the presence of a dragon as an acknolodgement of rulership by the Exalted One themself, a physical manifestation of the divine right of kings.

I have a personal headcannon about how the dragons have unintentionally affected the culture of Tuvana. Like the principle that you cannot observe something without changing it, people are affected by the dragons.

I know I've talked about this before, but I just love this. Dragons show up when certain people are born! We don't know where they come from, or what they want, or where they go back to. All perfectly normal! It's always been this way, don't see how it could ever be different. Like our world.
