Pretty much every goofy-ass defense of nazi tattoos I've seen on here has been a screenshot from X which is one of the clearest signs yet that staying on there desensitizes people to nazi shit. You're gettin pickled in the nazi juice dummies!
Fuck this. If “Nazi tattoo” doesn’t cross the line, you have no line.

In America it either takes years or is outright illegal to build a simple apartment building but the President can destroy the most famous residence in the world on a weekday afternoon on a personal whim. Cooked society. The despotic elite laugh at you while landlords boot you from your flat.
Even if its not plot armor, it does seem like Chirrut is better at dodging blaster bolts than you'd expect of a blind person and pure random chance.
If the force is like a river, he can't swim against the current like a jedi, but it seems like he's kind of aware of where the current is going.
Why can't it be both? This is a setting where 'supernatural' stuff is unambiguously sometimes real.
if Lamb wanted to win he shouldn't have cozied up to Joe Manchin.
See the problem is the U.S. military loves to call incidents like "we pointed guns at unarmed people, they got mad at us, and we shot them" as "combat"
I mean the movie seemed to imply his faith was true given how far he gets doing that, and I actually liked the idea there can be people aware of the force who aren't caught in the Jedi/Sith dichotomy.

but zohran/dsa is the problem

this is the country we live in now and we tried to warn people but a lot of folks were like "just vote for dems and everything will be ok" ok well now a dem has a nazi tattoo and apparently that's not disqualifying

so like seeing all the center-left media heroes go to bat for a literal nazi is exactly how trans people have felt this whole time watching the democratic establishment question our right to exist in public for like two years now

did we not learn this lesson with MeToo

"oh well he just drunkenly harassed a woman one time, surely it was a unique circumstance" was always inevitably followed up by 47 other such incidents

it's never just the one thing
Okay but the guy who got a Nazi tattoo surely only has the one bad thing waiting to come out about him, and we’ve already had it so that means he’s perfect, smooooth sailing from now on

I detest this framing. Most men aren’t running for Senate. Thats *literally* the prerequisites for the job. Doing politics and being a Senator are two very different things.

I don’t love presuming that men need to be handled with children’s gloves. Men can handle being told when they fuck up
Graham Platner to @daveweigel.bsky.social:
"How do you expect to win back men when you go back through somebody’s Reddit history and just pull it all out and say: ‘Oh, my God, this person has no right to ever be in politics?’"

DSCC Chair Gillibrand: “It’s up to the voters of Maine to decide.”

It is true that most people are swimming in an informational sewer clogged with propagandic sludge these days, AND.

It is also true that these guys are committing a ton of unforced errors that people feel concretely and then see Trump claim responsibility for *in his own propaganda.*

There's no carrot in any of this, folks are feeling the stick already.

And then on top of that Trump is hitting people over the head with the realities of who is at fault by owning the tariff stuff, loudly.

He is immiserating everyone and CROWING about it. Repeatedly and loudly

There IS a model for what he's trying to do, it happens all the time in municipal politics.

You can steal from people quite a bit, you can implement ruinous policy, you can get away with it but you HAVE to offer a tangible immediate bribe to distract from the pain.
I spent years around Philly politics, I'm not naive.

We certainly have plenty of self-dealing political actors.

But if you're going to use your union treasury to finance your sportscar, you damn better be giving your members free turkeys every Thanksgiving, and an open bar at the holiday party

I can't stress enough, the political problem here for Trump is that he is simply too greedy to remember to do some bread and circus in the midst of all the plundering.

And he has surrounded himself with people preoccupied with making the rest of the country feel immediate, punitive pain.

That specific skull and crossbones has strong nazi associations and pretending otherwise is ridiculous. Anyone who's watched a WW2 movie or seen the Mitchell and Webb "are we the baddies" sketch is familiar with it.

The most insincere man alive: Look I did something super insincere for insincere reasons, in a very cynical way, I'm basically mocking you to your faces lol

The most credulous voters in America: To me u are my president
How about they're both disqualifying and "but I'm saying the right things about Gaza" doesn't magically and completely undo keeping a nazi tattoo you know is a nazi tattoo, or being a member of Blackwater.

"He finally fucked his stupid ass up beyond repair, but we will miss him."
Bernie about Platner,

“In all due respect, all right, what I'm worried about, 50,000 Americans may die unnecessarily? And you're worried about a tattoo?"

When I asked about his comments about sexual assault, he said "Have you served four tours of duty?" I said "I have not."

Bernie: "Ok"
Clarify: you killed a man, while he was was dressed as the Green Lantern?

The top thing Platner could do right now to show he's sincere in his beliefs is to drop out of the race and recognizing the concerns about himself, and then continue putting in positive work in the community
One of the things that shows Platner shouldn't run anymore is he has that tattoo and went right for the Senate. It's not like he got involved in local government and put in the work at the town or county level. If he had you could *maybe* make the case he had truly reformed, but he didnt do that
