The factional grifters will hate this, but the Mamdani-Spanberger-Sherrill axis actually suggests the outlines of a broad, emerging Dem coalition organized around both anti-Trump *and* affordability politics, not a party bitterly divided against itself.
These big wins will embolden Dems to take on Trump's lawbreaking and show there's a price for GOP enabling of him. Folks hate to hear this, but normal patterns are asserting themselves: Liberalism isn't dead, Rs are likely to lose in 2026, and Trump is really unpopular, not a magical exception.

It doesn’t matter what I think. Also, none of this would ever happen. But if I had a zillion dollars:

1. Run a “we do hard things” campaign across southern and rust belt states. Invest heavily in local, state and regional social infrastructure. Sponser later hours at a library, build a skate park…
If I were to sum up my advice to the Democratic party leadership about how to defeat Trumpism, it would be to set aside policy for now and focus instead on articulating a vision of what American society should look like and what role the US should play in a rapidly changing world today.
If this post is any indication of her writing ability…yeesh. She can’t write a cohesive sentence, much less judge a policy memo!

One of the biggest impacts of AI is increasingly the prevalence of the idea that lower quality for much lower effort is a good tradeoff.
oh my GODDDDDDDDDDD

(apologies for screenshotting the hellsite, which I no longer use; I saw the link in CNN's Reliable Sources newsletter)
I don’t know how to express to the wider population that this is causing major economic disruption in concentrated parts of the country. This is on top of the DOGE destruction.
Not being above the fold is a major issue. I’m in Takoma Park, MD and a sibling + several friends are furloughed. Everyone here feels it and talks about it constantly, but we’re in a “bubble” of fed employees.

It's not lost on me that the part of the White House we are destroying is the part that has to do with women's history in the White House.
NEW: NBC News confirms that the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden, on the east side of the White House, has been destroyed as part of the demolition of the East Wing.

It’s really sick how this piece of garbage gets away with calling every black person he doesn’t like “low IQ” with just no scrutiny.

Every. Single. One.
Yes, we get it: the mayor of Chicago is negroid. Melanated. Dark skinned-ed. Black. Next insult please.
Trump on Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson: "Low IQ. Very low IQ. And we don't need low IQ people."

the other thing i’ll say here is i am a bit frustrated with the narrative of online radicalization that treats it as akin to brainwashing. it lets individuals, families and communities off the hook for the choices they make and the environments they foster
this also drives me insane, this idea that it is the most normal thing in the world for a young (white) man to have a nazi curious phase. it isn’t!

POTUS lives in a house, not a palace. No fancy hats or costumes, no sashes or uniforms. He's not the fount of honor. He's a citizen holding a temporary office, not sovereignty personified. Our civic ceremonies are modest and practical, not extravagant. There's real substance behind these things.

Remember back in January when all these sage politics-knowers were writing about how there had been a vibe shift and now the resistance was over?

lol. lmao.

I never again want to hear House Republicans disparage people they claim are too lazy to work
It's official: Speaker Johnson just cancelled all votes in the House next week.

The next scheduled voting day is 10/27; the last time the House was in session was 9/19.
I know A LOT of people at State and none of them expected him to be this bad. Many who were there for Tillerson!

Hi Sally. When Weiss published a supposed expose on the death of George Floyd, a veteran criminal justice reporter showed in deep detail that the piece was not just wrong but filled with falsehoods and misrepresentations. Weiss did not retract the piece. What do you think of that?
This is really smart. Amazed at the hysteria over the ascendance of a woman entrepreneur who clearly knows how to cover and sell news and who's not afraid to take on a mob. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...
