Same? No. Similar? Yes. I don’t know why that would be confusing. I think it’s entirely reasonable for people to wonder why the club bought a player who had an obvious strength to his game and be deployed in a way that doesn’t make the most of that ability.

The thing about the Overton window is that it just shifts by default if you let people propose insane policies like removing people with indefinite leave to remain without robust challenge. It doesn't just go away, it slowly leaks into the mainstream water supply unless you properly hose it down.

I think you can look at where he is during certain stages of play and and reliably infer that he’s in those positions because that’s where he is being instructed to be. I doubt we’ve got eight games into the season and he’s playing radically different to how he did for Bournemouth on a whim

I don’t really feel like these are comparable. All of those players were signed to do the roles they were known for before coming. Their delay in getting starts might be a good comparison for Frimpong but I don’t see what they illustrate about Kerkez.

I think one of the things that confuses people (and it is just one but I think it’s a good example) is the plan with the fullbacks. Why buy a left back who’s biggest strength is overlapping runs and have him invert or play as a back three in build up? I don’t expect an answer. It’s just an example.

On the Prince Andrew thing: I suspect most people couldn’t care less which titles he has or how he uses them. The point is that *he* cares about them, and that the king – who has clearly forced him into this declaration – wanted to deliver a smackdown of his brother in public so that we’d all see it

This is Katie Lam, Conservative leadership hopeful, just casually talking about deporting anyone who she doesn’t believe is ‘culturally coherent’ in the Times this weekend. This puts her to the right of Enoch Powell. And there’s been silence in media on these comments.

Much like Jenrick, Lam has been accused of shifting with the prevailing winds on issues of identity and immigration. She certainly shares his unsentimental toughness on the subject.
"Everybody who's in this country illegally I think needs to go home," she says. Indefinite leave to remain is off the table, too. "There are also a large number of people in this country who came here legally, but in effect shouldn't have been able to do so. It's not the fault of the individuals who came here, they just shouldn't have been able to do so. They will also need to go home. What that will leave is a mostly but not entirely culturally coherent group of people’.
