We have truly not yet figured out how to cope with a person or institution that is "aware" of climate change, "accepts the science", but then decides to continue actively worsening it anyway

We don't even have a word or a phrase for this!

Mark Carney’s climate inaction is at odds with his awareness of climate change’s existential threat
Climate action no longer seems to be a priority for Prime Minister Mark Carney, despite his previous activism. This is bad news for Canadians and the climate.

This would be that same #DougFord government so obsessed with ripping out #BikeLanes they had to make stuff up about them and ignore even their own reports about all the good cycling does for a city. Maybe keep this in mind, Calgary #onpoli #yyccc #yycbike

The premier's office suggested it was the same driver each time, and implied they still work for the government. #OnPoli

BBC decided to cancel a podcast on heat pumps deeming the topic "controversial" because it presented that the technology could contribute to net zero reducing carbon emmissions.

In 2025 an anti-science posture is not only valid, but required in any debate to be considered "balanced" 😬

Quasi monthly update of the monthly climate dashboard

The first September updates are starting to come in. Globally another very warm month.

www.jkclimate.fr/MonthlyDashb...
Graph showing monthly global mean temperature anomalies from 1850 (in varying shades of yellow, green then dark blue with colours getting darker over time) to 2025 (shown in red). Data are from six data sets: HadCRUT5, NOAAGlobalTemp v5, GISTEMP, Berkeley Earth, JRA-3Q and ERA5. The latest month shown is September 2025. Graph showing the ranking for monthly global mean temperature from six data sets between February 2023 and September 2025. Rankings are shown as coloured squares. Red is warmest on record (for that month and dataset), orange is second warmest, deep yellow (a beautiful shade that I want to call cadmium yellow but it's not toxic) means a top five month and pale yellow (the colour of sun-faded straw) is top ten. Nothing is outside that range. Every single warmest month in all datasets happened since July 2023.

Fossil Fuel executive says the quiet part out loud: "supply leads demand. You put more supply on the market and more demand gets created".

Please enjoy this executive at one of America's biggest gas companies openly admitting that expanding supply leads to increased demand for fossil fuels

He is not wrong: frantic expansion of fossil fuel supply worsens climate change. Tax it, cut subsidies, wind it down

💯 %. The climate crisis is a policy failure, not something that can be solved by individual actions. Putting the onus on consumers when the system is built to benefit wealthy corporate executives and investors is just the wrong place to focus. sure do what you can, but demand and vote for change
