every time you read a story about how no-strings-attached direct payments to vulnerable, marginalized or otherwise needy people are a big net profit to the society disbursing them, and you ask "why doesn't america do that?", please know that this is the answer why

When I say Gavin Newsom is not a democrat and is a transphobe, this is why. He criminalizes poverty and makes life harder for trans people.

The state legislature approved these measures representing the will of the people, and he's instead posting memes and waxing poetic on conservative podcasts. 🤦‍♀️

I'm realizing now it wasn't super clear I was agreeing with you. I definitely am. Sorry it was confusing!

I think you're very right. imo following someone back on a social media platform isn't a community action at all. It's reciprocation as commodity not as community.
carterkeane.bsky.social
I think people see community as a passive word when really it's active. We perform community, not just exist in it.

College radio stations are seeing a surge in student interest.

Stations that once struggled to fill airtime are now overflowing with student DJs.

I spoke to 7 college radio stations across the U.S. to understand what is driving the revival:

The pattern is of winding twisted textured roots with blooming cactus flowers over top in different states of bloom. In between the roots and flowers are bones, vertebrae and a dessert cotton tail rabbit skull

Get your ghost on!

THIS HOUSE ISN'T HAUNTED BUT WE ARE

After the death of their daughter, Simon & Priya renovate an old cottage. A child’s ghostly figure appears, doors lock themselves, a mysterious stain grows from the loft. Is it their daughter haunting them or something else?

Should be no surprise that this publication also doesn't pay its authors or artists.

Publication day today! Harrowfield is open to visitors.

If you like quiet folk horror, a village with strange traditions and both an occult and pagan past, you might like this one.

Come visit mybook.to/Harrowfield
Print wrap of Harrow field book cover. Front shows a tree standing over 2 small monoliths. On the back.a larger monolith watches them and above two ravens fly.

Blurb: Harrowfield is a tiny village in the Marches, that would strip of borderline between England and Wales. On the edge of this village lies another field the Harrow Field, the one from.which the settlement takes its name. At its entrance stands the Mother stone guarding her Children, two smaller stones standing at the top of the field. This is the ancient site of the Harrowing.

When Derwenna Party's brother goes missing whilst surveying farmland, she and his daughters head to the village to track him down. Midsummer approaches and even though they find him unharmed, they become caught up in strange events which lead them to the Harrowing. An ancient act of penance ... or sacrificial revenge.

I mean yes this is funny, but the fact that these unconstitutional stormtroopers are so directionless that they literally stand around waiting for random nonwhite delivery guys to bike past them is just pathetic. No mandate, no mission, no clue. Just racism.
