He "could be bigoted" and "wasn't afraid of people who disagreed with him."

Call me crazy, but I don't think the world needs more fearless bigots right now, or ever.

These are fearless bigots. Is the Boston Globe applauding them as well?

NEW: On the eve of Greg Bovino's court-ordered appearance before Judge Sara Ellis, lawyers in the case ask her to fully bar the feds from using tear gas until she rules on a preliminary injunction.

"Something must be done. Defendants are plainly in contempt, and sanctions are warranted."

Yet another new filing today in the federal court case over DHS officials' & immigration agents' behavior in Chicago.

This one addresses yet another alleged violation of Judge Sara Ellis' previously-entered restraining order: agents' gassing of the affluent Lakeview/Wrigleyville area on Friday.

Refusing to feed people while building a massive ballroom is a fast track to eat the rich. No pun intended.

The New York Post is owned by Lachlan Murdoch, solely because his daddy bought it and passed it on to him.

And it's backing Andrew Cuomo, a meathead whose whole career in politics stems from his daddy being good at it.

But *Mamdani* is the nepo baby, because his mom was a filmmaker? Sure.
Interesting cover from NY Post

The Walton family (who own Walmart) are worth over $400 billion, yet many of their employees are on SNAP.

Bezos is worth over $400 billion, many Amazon employees require SNAP.

The people who need help are not the problem.

It’s corporate greed. It’s an unwillingness to pay a living wage.

A huge swathe of my community is mobilizing to fund our food banks & ensure people will be able to eat when SNAP benefits lapse on Friday. Even some of our local conservative megachurches are getting involved. This crisis has definitely broken through to those who aren't terminally online.

Every poll is like:

"Should we eat our own shit?"

31% yes
39% no
30% don't know

but there are still people getting paid to argue for how Democrats can finely tailor an eat-some-shit message to win over the median moderate voter, of which there are zero.
It's darkly funny anytime one of these consultant pamphlets comes out about how Democrats can scientifically carve up the electorate to eke out a win, meanwhile the current president spent the campaign swaying on stages, giving 45 minute speeches about who's nice to him. Riding in a garbage truck

Well, they already clearly weren't before then. IL congressmen have been trying to access the Broadview processing center for months with no success.
NEW: ICE says it no longer has to provide Congress access to detention facilities — thanks to the shutdown.

That requirement was part of the appropriations law that expired last month — and now operations are funded by Trump’s megabill.

Another shutdown consequence: Democrats can’t visit ICE detention facilities
Democratic lawmakers had been suing the Trump administration over their previous attempts to visit ICE facilities.

It's really too bad California policymakers saw a PGE bankruptcy as a horrible catastrophe to avoid rather than an opportunity to clean house and nationalize it. When they asked to raise rates because of their huge wildfire lawsuit payouts regulators should have just said "no"

Not only is it going to be a hunger crisis, it's going to be a farm crisis. All those gallons of milk bought from dairy farmers, all the produce, all the on sale ground beef and packs of chicken that are paid for by SNAP are subsidies to farmers who don't qualify for commodities subsidies.

I’ve always wondered how anyone could separate economic issues from social issues given that there’s an entire population descended from human beings who spent centuries treated as property—literal capital.
I’m so sick of the economic issues are more important than social issues people. 44% of the US is non-white, 30% are white women. We’re all included in “DEI,” a group they’re trying to kick out of the job market. It’s hilarious that anyone thinks they can have an economy without us.

I think every generation of rich corrupt people decides that *this* is the era when technology will allow them to completely suppress the masses without any actual human support and every time they find out the hard way that they’re wrong
This thread makes a point I find myself coming to often these days.

It's hard to make this point in a way that doesn't sound like a threat, but it's just a fact that for centuries the wealthy in America worried that the mob would come get them and did all they could to avoid that fate.
lol what the wealthy today don't seem to understand is part of staying wealthy in society is not pissing off the masses.

There's a reason why Carnegie and the Rockefellers poured money into institutions. Gutting institutions and making it harder for the masses to survive is a...choice.

I asked Microsoft PR about this—specially the DHS using Halo IP to recruit for ICE—and the company declined to comment.

This is obviously a horrible comment to make, but it illuminates something critical about ICE's tactics in a large metro. They are skimming human beings from the most vulnerable populations and spreading themselves very thin to do it like this on purpose—because it works.
