Fabulous figs, frightening foie gras, flattering liars! An ancient food thread that has it all; (If you're sensitive to animal cruelty, then be forewarned!)
In the name of Hades, what do you mean Thomas? What connects these seemingly very different things -namely figs and liver- together?

Good episode about the Spanish Civil war!
And once more we discover that the British political elites washed their hands of any moral responsibility to help democratic side and paved the way to fucking franco for nearly 4 decades.

The "Saint George was Turkish" line as a gotcha response to flagshaggers' bigotry is silly because:
a) it is factually incorrect, obviously,
b) it aligns with Turkey's historical revisionism - not cool
c) there are so many better ways to attack the racism and

It's impossible if both parents are working and one has two kids. Maybe one, maybe one parent is stay at home.
Every family needs help, grantparents, aunties, godparents etc. Who thinks that 2 adults can achieve everything and raise kids, cooks, clean, teach etc? Almost impossible!

BBC News explain that because of Brexit, Brits will be photographed and have their fingerprints taken when going into the EU, as the UK now is a third country

BBC News forget to explain that the UK helped create these rules when we were part of the EU because we wanted stronger border control

Your occasional reminder that 93% of UK parents do not send their children to a private school.

Private school can feel like the only option when the state system isn’t meeting your child’s needs, but the financial burden goes far beyond school fees ⬇️
School fees were a shock, then came VAT, uniforms, trips …

Never heard of Rylan Clark, but his co-presenter is brilliant. I suspect she does a bit of delving too, but you obviously didn't think that was worth mentioning in your headline. Misogyny, eh?

This is an astonishingly good news story, it will bring enormous health benefits, it will be noted by historians of london in centuries to come. But it will change no one’s vote, he will get no credit. More people will be talking about trans toilet habits at the next election.
It’s a conundrum.
