one of the interesting thing i have seen in the platner discourse is a refusal to confront a thing on its own terms. to his pundit supporters, platner isn’t a novice candidate with perhaps questionable judgment to be evaluated on his ability to win, but a symbol to wield against rivals

That's notable! She doesn't call it a "pumpkin spice latte" specifically, but it's all so close. Piecing the quote together with what we know about pumpkin pie spice and how it was used, I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. The skeptic in me thinks this can't possibly be true, but the researcher in me actually feels fairly confident in saying this: it sure looks like Tori Amos created the first known pumpkin spice latte.

Something that Marc and Alex’s legal team discovered in discovery is that Glen Taylor, in the months during the push and pull, had two executives create what amounts to a “burn book”, as in a Mean Girls-style list. A list that been described to me as numbered and 77 items long.

And this list of 77 things Glen Taylor hates about Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez was communicated to the NBA and anyone who would listen, in an attempt to say “you can’t approve these guys.“

Some items on this list are: “Marc Lore had dinner with Kevin Garnett and never told me,” “Alex Rodriguez did steroids,” “Marc Lore came into the arena with an open bottle of alcohol,”

all of these people would do well to learn something about “cheap” and “costly” grace. no one is saying that platner is irredeemable, but that some things are a bridge too far for someone seeking a public trust. if he feels truly contrite, he can work on himself and his community and try again.
