A big thanks to those that dug into the Nationals decision to drop net zero and discovered it was based on “research” from the Coal Australia lobby group.

Trump promises not to starve one group of Americans if the Dems agree to let an overlapping swathe of Americans die younger, bankrupt, stripped of healthcare.

The top 1% of US households own 50% of all Americans’ stock holdings.

The top 10% collectively own 87% of total household equities.

Honestly not trying to boost sales here: I just think this is really important to understand — and the thing my critics *really* don't want you to know.

Hit me up for a PDF if you're curious. Happy to send one. Don't tell my agent.

Neo-conservativism presaged Trumpian neo-fascism in several respects. It saw violence as a positive policy option not a defensive last resort. It held laws, norms and the lives of non-white people in total contempt. And many, many centrists either cringed in deference to it or actively collaborated.

Solow would likely say that we could come up with artificial substitutions for coffee, chocolate, and wine, so what's happening to those commodities isn't really a cost.

Here's Solow on "substitutability," in the context of the 1970s debate over limits to growth.
