Time to post one of my favorite old illustrations. :)
I created it for a group show resolving around botanical visuals. During this time I read a lot about the ISS and how they grew plants in there to test botanical behavior, which also sparked dreams about deep space travels.

Vought’s daughter has cerebral palsy, and while she may not require “special” education, she would need adjustments if she attended any school.

Obviously, he is evil and does not care about hypocrisy, but I want people to remember: they’re taking this away from US, not themselves.

There are reports that the *entire* office of special education at the US Dept of Education has been cut. These hardworking folks ensure kids with disabilities get equal access to a quality education.

America’s children deserve better than this.

I really, really need you to go back to reliably masking. It’s life and death. Maybe not for you and your family (although it’s very possible!), but for vulnerable people in your communities. Elders, kids, and immunocompromised folks, of which there are untold hundreds of thousands more now.

If I were actively trying to destroy the United States from within, going after and dismantling its public health would be like the first thing I’d do.

Just pointing that out.

This is beyond dangerous. It’s leaving us vulnerable in a way we can’t really fathom until it’s too late.

Eugenics is about collectively demarcating who among us is “inferior” enough, in the “right” ways, to be actively or passively cut out of society. It relies on us not caring about disability justice & also encourages people to disable each other to the point they can be easily, wordlessly left behind

Long Covid is more prevalent in children in the US now than asthma. We are fucking destroying the next generations w/our behavior. (And adults.)

If you do care about resisting eugenics maybe start by not being the vector that disables a kid in RFK’s US. That is not too much to ask. It really isn’t.

If this thread hit you like ice water because you truly did not know covid spread is still mass disabling people (& killing ppl), please let it change how you operate now that you know—& don’t just take my word for it, do some searches in medical journals. When we know better we do better. I hope🤞

Traveling halfway across the world & packing into a room for a conference panel on the theme of resisting eugenics.

But not wearing a respirator during a surge in the ongoing pandemic.

What a fun way to show how the research & scholars you’re there to ostensibly listen to mean jack shit to you.

A reminder that your US public library card likely gives you free access to Libby, an app that has ebooks & audiobooks galore!

It likely gets you other cool stuff, too. Mine gets me museum passes, language learning via Mango app, movies & TV via Kanopy app, &c.

Using the library keeps it open! 💙📚

ICE agents shot and killed a dog in an El Paso home.

The owner was complying with their request to search. He simply asked permission to secure the dog first.

ICE entered anyways and murdered the dog.

They refused to give names or badge numbers.

Given Noem’s history this is ghastly.

The crust of one of the bread slices would need to form some sort of flange that covers the gap between the slices. A flanged bread specifically for grilled sandwiches. I have thought about this a lot 😂

believing in science, but not wanting to continue wearing a mask would sound like this: “i’m getting vaccinated bc it’ll help me fight off covid, but does not prevent me from spreading covid nor does it prevent me from developing long covid. these are risks i have decided to take”

unfortunately, you do not believe in science if you think getting vaccinated is enough to stop the spread of disease and that there’s no way you could ever develop long covid so catching covid (while vaxxed) must be harmless. that is not what the science has been saying at all.

The final illustration of a pink silkmoth with beige and brown upper wings and vibrant pink lower wings. Oh, and an incredibly fluffy body. A close up showing the detail of the furry wings.

Sometimes I wonder if the desperate clinging to and defensiveness towards generative AI would be this intense if we didn't have a world population ravaged by 6 years of SARS2-related cognitive damage and willing to outsource all their thinking and creativity to a planet-destroying technology.
