I reused the cooking oil from falafel last week so we could compare our other favorite fried bean thingy: Accara (a Ghanaian black-eyed pea fritter). They are crispy & tender & delicious. kids say they’re equally good, husb & I are more partial to falafel bc texture & spices. Both so good tho.

I have never managed to make myself love either. I find both of their perspectives objectionable and can’t get past it to enjoy either of their work.

That said, I vote Faulkner just for that one chapter of “As I Lay Dying” that is, in its entirety, “My mother is a fish.”

Can you put into words what that purpose is? You and the frog have really become icons of this protest.

There’s been a nice overall whimsy that has shown up. The frog is amazing. We had a bunch of other inflatable people here last night, too. I saw people playing Twister the other day.

What they rely on is fear. So by coming out in an absurdist manner, it speaks to them, to some extent, that we’re actually not that afraid.

It also dismantles their narrative a little bit. When they try to describe this situation as “war-torn,” it becomes much harder to take them seriously when they have to post a video saying [U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security] Kristi Noem is up on the balcony staring over the Antifa Army and it’s, like, eight journalists and five protesters and one of them is in a chicken suit.

Whew schroedinger’s queerness is the perfect name for how bisexuality/pansexuality is commonly treated. What, isn’t folks’ sexuality defined by their most recent partner & everything else (prev partners, attractions, etc) is “fake”??

I feel like I’ve seen “thirst trap” said in a complementary fashion at least as often as derogatory, but yeah, it implies sexy or, when derogatory, sometimes implies trying hard to be sexy but maybe not succeeding.
