Yup. I fell out of love with hockey because of Bettman’s clumsy attempts to interfere in municipal politics… but the cracks that started that falling out were opened by the shootout and elimination of ties in the NHL.

This isn't a thing in any creative circles, ever. The only time you don't need to talk to an artist about using their work in your publication is if you buy their stock art, which comes with a license that covers a conversation about rights, usage. This person's explanation is extra ripe bullshit.

NO. IT. IS. NOT.

Screencap from reddit.

"sorry I caught you off guard with the post. In the dnd homebrew space it isn't standard practice to gen in contact with artists for incorporation their work, provided that they are adequately credited and that the homebrew work is available for free, both of which are the case here."

Benefits of Infinite. We can make the silly things reality

Today in Paizo editor chat: the phrase "ogre unionization."

(this is not a spoiler just us being silly)

To be fair, their teachers told them to never use Wikipedia.

I find it bleak that ChatGPT now has more users than Wikipedia. Many people would rather be spoon-fed information by a machine than read and research for themselves. Tech isn't just making us dumber. Worse than that: it's killing curiosity itself and the desire to learn.

Going to remind y'all again that boycotting grocery stores is next to impossible for families with food allergies.

Some days the burnout hits hard. I think this week it’s an asteroid.

As a fan of cyberpunk fiction, I scoffed at programmers naively claiming stray bits of code in virtual reality were "ghosts."

Now people are not only claiming AI is sapient, but also that people arguing against them are racists, and yeah, guess I was wrong. Smart people can be very stupid.

But also in the context of making pregen character quickly, helping people with choice paralysis, and helping people who don’t deep dive games.

It has taken me literal decades, but I think I finally understand the appeal of randomly generated characters.

But it’s also in the context of playing solo games, where I’m not locked into a single build.

I need people who haven't studied psychology, neurology, or ontology in a formal manner to spend less time building false equivalences to defend AI and then insisting "that's just how thought works." It's not, people who spend their lives studying this can show you why it's not, and they're tired.

Never underestimate the power of institutional knowledge. If you’re a writer, that means never underestimate a good structure or template - a never be afraid of updating and refining them to make them better.

Doing some for @ericzawadzki.bsky.social and currently nerding out on said refinements.

IDK if there are any general ones, but the DMs Guild discord contains all discourse to a single channel which is rarely posted in. Hopefully a less specific server does the same?

Design/CAD brain talked with art brain tonight and gridding RPG maps in Procreate is now a much less rigid process

We don't, there will be a new (and hopefully better) normal after this, that said, for the rest of our lives we'll have to be aware a non-trivial number of neighbors and fellows voted for actual fascism, and that's always going to be a bummer

How do we return to any semblance of normal after all this is said and done?

Not only do these things frigging rock, they are one of the Starfinder monsters I’ve written about for Stars Beyond, which injects a boatload of high weirdness and Planescape-esque shenanigans into Starfinder.

Star Trek? Rad. Lorwyn? Very rad. The rest? Ehhhhhhhhhh…

(I’m sure Strixhaven is cool, but I’ve never played it and no emotional connection to it.)
