On September 24th, I'll be releasing a piece with one of my bolder theses: That Glen Morgan and James Wong are the innovators of what we consider Modern Television. Their work from The X-Files, to Space: Above and Beyond, through Millennium represents the most influential-on-writers work of the era.

As an example: AI doesn't understand "no." Because the statements "no ketchup on my burger" and "ketchup on my burger" are almost identical to a machine that does not and cannot actually reason. It's only a 2 letter difference.
AI doesn't know 'no' – and that's a huge problem for medical bots
Many AI models fail to recognise negation words such as “no” and “not”, which means they can’t easily distinguish between medical images labelled as showing a disease and images labelled as not showin...

What you're getting from an LLM is a statistical approximation of what the answer would be to a statistical approximation of the question.

This is why prompt engineering is fake. The prompt (and any input data) is just a suggestion - and helps fool you into thinking that your question was answered.

That’s a sincere question, not rhetorical. I do not know.

Has there been another moment in American history of this level of conflict between the lower courts and SCOTUS?
leahlitman.bsky.social
More judges speak to the press (the NYT) about what a disaster the Supreme Court (specifically the shadow docket) has been - “incredibly demoralizing & troubling”; a “judicial crisis”; a “slap in the face to district courts.” www.nytimes.com/2025/10/11/u...

There is a long history of adventurous, bold episodes of shows having horrible IMDB scores, for reasons that should be obvious to anyone involved in modern media critique. There isn't a single good reason to reference them, even when you're correct about the overall point.
ericsipple.com
The worst-rated episode on IMDB of this season of Rick and Morty is the clear best of the first half I've seen, because IMDB scores are worthless trash.

I do not say this to defend real critiques of the Peacemaker finale. I say it because you should never use IMDB scores for anything.

Is putting the weight of the US government behind the celebration of a man whose greatest historical legacy is jumping into a genocide with both feet, in opposition to the renaming of the day after the victims of that violence, erasure of indigenous people? Who can say?

It's so strange to imagine a world without the Dr. Demento show.

All things must end, and he's had an incredible run, but it's still sad.

Plus ça change and such, I guess.

Reasonable suspicion is when you're visibly afraid of masked, armed men looking for any reason to assault and arrest you.
thematthill.bsky.social
Wow. Greg Bovino admits on camera that his agents can detain people if you look scared, change your demeanor, or grip a steering wheel too tight.

As his unmasked agents walk around with large guns to scare you, they may arrest you just for that — even if you're a U.S. citizen.

Unfortunately, they can't do that without a positive vision for the country that isn't "return to normal", because normal sucks at this point and no one wants normal.
ericsipple.com
Everyone hates the status quo, so arguments that sound like "defend the status quo" are meaningless to toxic to a lot of people. Given a choice between authoritarianism and the path they saw their lives on, they likely would accept authoritarianism. Dems need to demonstrate why that's a fake choice.
ericsipple.com
And to a degree, they are right to assess that the message on its own sails past low salience voters. They think the government doesn't serve them, and the government is democracy, and thus "protect democracy" is not a call to arms. Where Dems are failing is in connecting material impacts to fascism
thelincoln.bsky.social
This is not a defense of perpetually feckless Dems, but I bet Dems feel they ran on "Trump is fascist and undermining democracy" and they lost the election and so are giving up that message.
crushbort.bsky.social
is it not weird that every day there’s a new video of anonymous masked men having the time of their lives beating/shooting/disappearing people and the dem response from the top down is “republicans want to double your health insurance premiums”

I wish my party had the balls John Thune imagines. It would be pretty great.

Thune: "If the Democrats had won the majority, they probably would've tried to nuke the filibuster. And then you'd have four new senators from Puerto Rico and DC, you'd have a packed Supreme Court, you'd have abortion on demand ... "

Premium: The AI Bubble's promises are impossible. NVIDIA's customers are running out of money, GPUs die in 3-5 years, most 1GW data centers will never get built, and OpenAI's Abilene data center doesn't won't have the power it needs before 2028 - if it ever does.

Q: Rescission are something Dems have said is a reason for a lack of trust. What rescissions are you discussing?

JOHNSON: We have more than $37t in debt. We're doing everything we can to get us back to sound fiscal responsibility. What does that include? A rescission package is part of our process

I did, though, get some fun out of the podcast. Specifically, the extremely On Brand interaction between Jennifer Holland And Her Manchild Husband arguing about what the best song of the episode was.
James Gunn smiling, saying, "which is Fucking My Heart in the Ass" Jennifer Holland rolling her eyes

Fund Friday post :

Happy Friday Yall. Post fundraising links, cashapp links, whichever campaign needing help on . ♥️
Screenshot of a text message conversation on a purple background. The first message from AJ Link at 7:48 AM reads: “Howdy pals. Can I ask for a favor. If anyone has capacity or time today can they do a fund Friday post. I know lots of people need help.” This message has a heart reaction. The second message, also at 7:48 AM, replies: “Obviously what everyone does with their CPU is sacred. So no pressure.“

Same, I'm *really* hoping that the reason for holding back isn't Peacemaker Will Continue In Man of Tomorrow. Like you, I'll watch any focused-on-these-people television rebrands, though.

I listened to his post-show podcast and he's being Very Cagey about it all. Sigh.
ericsipple.com
The argument could be that Peacemaker has ended, because Chris has grown behind being Peacemaker, so the show is going to just change in some fundamental way? Dunno, but I don't like not knowing how I'm getting next steps with these lovely losers!
ericsipple.com
I'm trying to figure out which of the following is happening, and it may be multi-select:

1. Peacemaker In Sanctuary is in Superman so they can't announce anything until after that
2. Peacemaker is going to change name in some way (become Checkmate?)
3. Characters scatter across other properties
