Process breakdown of the STRANGE TALES OF THE SOUTH SHORE poster I did last month! It was a delight to work on, as working with Smog Town Prod. & Ken Amlin always is. Find Ken's instagram at @k___r___a and check out more behind-the-scenes fun from STRANGE TALES!
Strange Tales of the South Shore Poster (2025), Karl Parakenings
Done in four days in Clip Studio PAINT, using primarily DAUB and Frenden brushes on a Wacom Intuos tablet. Based on principal photography by Ken Amlin, who also directed the series, and did the graph...

Just a kind word at a low moment. I don't remember the specifics. But it helped me believe that I could be different, and my life could be better.

You helped turn my life around, no exaggeration

Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”

I think my "responses to my writing" scale is calibrated wayy off. Twice this week, I've expected critique to be, like, withering, and instead it's like light summer rain. Time to reset, I guess.

it has the usual reddit problems but it does serve as a great way to start training your brain to recognize the things AI likes to fuck up. for instance, it's gotten better at hands but will still fuck up background patterns and give people irises that aren't perfectly round

I really recommend browsing a reddit called "Is this AI?" for this purpose. people post questionable images and commenters weigh in on their validity, but are required to provide specifics as to their reasoning. once you start seeing the signs, it gets easier and easier over time

I genuinely cannot express how vital it is that you train yourself to recognize AI-generated images and videos for your own good because none of this is going away and many, many people are counting on you to fall for their shit

This gives me hope.

"To show that someone has touched this", they said.
I've been a bit worried that this time around I'll find that the children want to use AI to make their pictures look "good". But they absolutely still want to think with their hands and make their mark. Of course they do.

I think letting children make books together gets them thinking in a lot of ways that inevitably lead to increased media literacy. Telling stories helps you to recognise stories elsewhere. Who is telling them? How are they being told? And why are they being told this way?

Hello. Are you making a game or art that could in any way be described as "retro"? If so, I'd love to see it! Please reply below. (no AI stuff, thx)

Another sleepless night, apparently. I wish inexplicable behaviour were easier for me to reconcile or forget.

I wonder if it was ever anything solid, though. It feels like it was a post-Watergate fad.

Well the baseball game is over but the night is young for the 38 year olds of Bluesky, and that means it’s time to take a low dose aspirin and read about Bigfoot on your iPad for 20 minutes before falling asleep
