You may not care about escaping the gravity well, but space development has repeatedly been shown to advance science and technology that provide significant benefits to the average person.

Just to clarify - I absolutely despise Musk.

I think the engineers and scientists at SpaceX are doing amazing work, despite having Musk as CEO.

I think that much of SpaceX’s success can be attributed to the fact that he has been involved with his other businesses.

Starship has blown up repeatedly. But it is still under development and is pushing the available technology to the limit.

It’s still unclear if starship will ever be a practical launch vehicle. I hope it will - mankind NEEDS a practical, reusable heavy launch vehicle.

That’s an absolutely amazing safety record especially when you consider many of those rockets have been launched multiple times.

The space shuttle, by comparison, had 135 missions with 2 absolutely catastrophic failures.

Let’s be honest and accurate here: the Falcon 9 is one of the most reliable rockets ever built.
