For any unfamiliar with the quality of journalism at Teen Vogue, it's well known for hard-hitting stories on "politically sensitive" topics including climate.

Then there's CBS: the only major network to increase climate coverage in the last few years. They just axed nearly their whole climate team.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

for a super long time i was too self conscious to say i love you to anybody ever and now that so many of my loved ones have straight up dropped dead before i could say it, i tell my friends i love them constantly, to a degree that is likely annoying
FACT: you should be sappier with your friends and loved ones. there is no reason not to be.

elon musk: people in the uk live like hobbits. um let’s look at you for a second bro
Anyone who isn't, I'll just assume they're angling for an advisor role in the near future.
The attack happened around 8.15pm on Friday night. 60+ hours later & *still* no strong pushback from the entire govt against the far right.

Every political journalist should be hounding every single FF, FG & Ind TD who formed this govt for on-record comments & answers as to why it hasn't happened.
Every minute without a strong statement from the Irish government about the arson and attempted murder in Drogheda is another minute of silent acquiescence to the far right - by remaining silent, the govt is making it very clear which side they are on.
Everyone who is here, belongs here.

i do not understand how 'mainstream' politicians, political parties, government departments, public institutions and EU bodies still use twitter as the default social media

if these move elsewhere, journalists will have to follow

staying there props up this creep's project of hatred and racism
Elon Musk, "These lovely small towns in England, Scotland and Ireland, they've been living their lives quietly. They're like hobbits"

"And so one day, 1,000 people show up in your village of 500 and start raping the kids"

"This has now happened, God knows how many times in Britain"

Their Facebook page says that the Taoiseach’s officials promised them a mediation meeting on Monday. It has now been postponed to Wednesday. They have now been on hunger strike for over 40 days. This is an appalling way to treat people.
'We are not afraid to die': Industrial school survivors vow to continue 32-day hunger strike

Four are refusing to eat over two demands they say were promised but have not been delivered as part of the industrial schools' redress scheme — a Health Amendment Act card and a contributory pension

That’s really interesting about the two separate women’s categories for records, makes sense!

The current WR for women in a mixed race is held by someone who just got a ban for doping, so a lot of people will def have a question mark over that WR forever.

everyone automatically clacks these twice upon picking them up because deep down we all know we’re crabs
Barring a valid excuse like hospitalisation or serious personal emergency, silence is starting to look like Simon Harris still very much wants to court the very same people who will be celebrating the attack on the Ipas centre in Drogheda.
Was just saying at dinner this evening how wild it is that Simon Harris STILL hasn’t said anything publicly at all about that vile attack.

Especially considering how much he usually loves to comment on anything & everything with his “I am very concerned” furrowed brow.
Ged Nash also called on the Tánaiste Simon Harris to issue a statement on the arson attack, saying he is someone who is “never found wanting to comment on anything that might occur in our society” and has yet to comment on what’s happened in the town.

Wild thing looking at the NY mayor election is that the Cuomo campaign appears to consist entirely of AI generated deep fake videos of his opponents. Someone is 100% going to copy that here and we need legislation to be ahead of this

Amateurs spoiled their votes, but Ivan Yates spoiled TWO campaigns, the vision!
I’m even surprised that they had CCTV this time because it was verrrry conveniently absent for most (all?) of the previous fires.
Honestly I’ll be shocked if they manage to actually figure out who it is.

Afaik, there hasn’t been any prosecutions for any of the other fires at centres (or proposed centres) yet.

to be on air, discussing the presidential election, making wild and bullish statements about what candidates should do, while omitting the fact that you’re literally working for a campaign… it’s just not very good behaviour is it. doesn’t suggest good character, does it.
Likely a combination of the typically rapidly evolving nature of the investigation coupled with fireworks also possibly being used elsewhere to frighten people into running out or upstairs.

It’s not unusual at all for details to change as the investigation grows more than a few hours old.
The article itself says that he was initially briefed that fireworks were the cause.

I don’t think J O’C has handled much well, but I also don’t think he made it up either. And I don’t believe it was unreasonable that he trusted the Garda HQ brief given to him.
In fairness, it sounds like fireworks were also used elsewhere possibly to frighten people into running out or upstairs. I don’t think it’s some sort of cover up, just the Minister not knowing all the full facts at the time of his statement.

I have already ended up in a argument today with someone saying I shouldn't assume it was a far-right fire attack on an IPAS centre (following a number of far-right fire attacks on IPAS centres) because it was probably "kids messing with fireworks" so this is worth hammering home I think
