The only people who should go without a salary during a shutdown are the members of the house and senate - who should absolutely not be paid during shutdowns if employees aren’t.

In the future, when democrats have the ability to pass it, we need a law that says even in a shutdown, federal employees get paid, on time, until the shutdown ends.

Want a limit? Fine, say 90 days or 120 days.

Remove the nuclear option from the hands of the GOP, the ones who keep causing these…

If I find out that Bothell police cooperated with ICE to take children into custody, I will never stop trying to defund them. If we can't trust them, we can't have them in the community.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

People are spontaneously posting up near any laborers or street vendors they spot. Just saw a rapid responder guarding a man working on a building exterior. Many things are terrible today but lord, this stuff matters.

There are a tremendous number of ICE watchers out in Rogers Park this afternoon after some early morning abductions.

People are guarding churches and patrolling alleyways. Ran into Alderperson Hadden. First timers tell us they're primed and ready to use their whistles.

The New York Times knows crime is not “out of control” in major U.S. cities — in fact, crime is way down from past years and decades — but NYT amplifies JD Vance’s lie without a fact check.
It’s journalism malpractice that helps the fascists.

Was this live? Why would they put this out? Also, given what’s suggested by his aggressive coverup of the Epstein files, yeah, there’s good reason for him to admit he’s never coming close to heaven.

This two-parter below is exactly why it's hard to make clothes in the United States.

Let's look at how much it costs to produce a button-up shirt in the US. 🧵
Someone on Twitter replies to me: "meh. buy american or stfu."

Two hours later, in a separate thread, the write: "$30 for a single button-up is ridiculous unless it is decent quality silk."

Read this thread about Russell Vought, whose power is comparable to Stephen Miller's. He believes he's "fighting a noble war to defend his 'real America' of white Christian patriarchal rule" by "bending the entire government machine to Trump's will" - while mainstream media whitewashes his evil.

I wrote about the aggrieved extremist who is currently firing thousands of federal workers and ravaging state capacity based on conspiratorial nonsense - and about mainstream media’s infuriating tendency to sanitize Russell Vought and the regime he serves.

We need to talk about Russell Vought – But Properly

Folks, I need everyone to understand that the only governments that do shit like this are openly corrupt corporatist oligarchies. This is the synergy of capitalism and fascism. It leads here.
