🗽I’m so proud of my city!!🇺🇸💙
Early this morning, our city still plunged into darkness, I set off to walk the Brooklyn Bridge.

As the sun came up, we were joined by canvassers, labor leaders, elected officials, and working people — a movement to bring a new day to our city.

Tomorrow, we win it together.

the thing that keeps getting me is how Zohran is unflinchingly all-American. to live in a place that so perpetually and gravely fails to live up to its ideals, it's exhilarating to see someone in public life who actually believes in them
We didn’t smash any tables. We didn’t eat a garbage plate. But you better believe the Bills got that W today.

Thanks to Gov. Kathy Hochul for bringing the #BillsMafia energy to Astoria today—and to Murphy’s Bar for having us.

You know I wouldn't post AI nature videos because I love nature.
The “AI” generated video curse is spreading so fast I feel I can only post @dustinmulvaney.bsky.social and @banditelli.org videos without checking if they are real. Holy crap it’s bad

Hi. It's me. 2 weeks later. This is done. 58 frames over 3 seconds, *50* layers in the final image. WOO. This was a long edit, felt like ACTUAL work so unless I get it again with the actual sunset I doubt I'll be editing more like this. Psyched for the final piece tho! 🪶

🌏 Biodiversity loss has deep-rooted causes—from power imbalances to short-term priorities. These shape indirect & direct drivers like land/sea use change, exploitation & climate change.

I hope the BBC will challenge Nigel Farage today over the economic damage caused by the Brexit he championed.

He needs to be held to account for the damage he's done instead of always being given an easy ride.

The fact a *single* Amazon full-time employee requires SNAP benefits should be a crime. The fact Amazon is the largest employer of SNAP recipients is a disgrace. Jeff Bezos shouldnt be that rich; he should be in jail.

This post/quote is important; @brenttoderian.bsky.social keenly understands the link between urbanism, design and climate change and how important it is to connect better #PlacesForPeople with ways to make a better planet. Better policy, better leadership, better results.

Over 800km of new bike paths, pedestrian zones, school streets, 200,000 new trees, a 40% reduction in traffic, a 40% reduction in emissions, and a plan for a carbon neutral Paris by 2050. There is nothing stopping other city leaders from being this bold.
“One of Hidalgo’s most transformative achievements has been her push to reduce car dominance in Paris, a city historically shaped by automotive culture. Since 2014, her administration has added over 1,300 kilometers (800 miles) of bike lanes, making cycling a viable and safe option for commuters.”

When Bernie says every major country on earth guarantees healthcare to all of its people as a right, I don’t think people truly realize how many countries have already done so. It’s beyond time we join the many countries and guarantee healthcare to all. #Bernie2020 #DemDebate

Geopolitics is important (and a good reason to study the Baltic states) but they are interesting FAR beyond contemporary geopolitics and security, which is all that seems to get any attention in UK academia

It seems very sad to me that Baltic Studies is a field that barely exists in the UK. There are language courses run by SSEES (and its two Baltic professorships) and Glasgow's Baltic Research Unit (focussed on international relations and modern history), but that's about it
