tired: travelling by hand basket
wired: travelling by Daihatsu basket
The Daihatsu basket. Basically a modern Mehari from 2009 With an open bed and seating for four, it's the ideal rig for the landscapers who take care of Hayao Miyazaki's garden Inclement weather? Plagues of frogs and locusts falling from the sky? Simply put up the canvas top.

Deep dive into the surge in US pedestrian deaths:

"It’s not that more pedestrians are getting hit by vehicles; it’s that the ones that are getting hit are more likely to die."

"[That] seems like fairly strong evidence for the theory that the rise in large SUVs is behind the uptick in ped deaths."
Why Are So Many Pedestrians Killed by Cars in the US?
It’s unfortunately not uncommon for pedestrians to be killed by cars in the US.

Anecdotally I have far more student absences now than 2019-2022 due to illness (it sounds much worse in K12, and districts are being punitive because it affects their money, exacerbating circulation)

Covid has created an increase in work absences year round comparable to a year round flu season. This is due to both Trump & Biden mishandling Covid with a vaccine-only approach, opposing other needed action.

The IRS is laying off people during the shutdown, even though it was rehiring staff it previously fired because it was so shorthanded.
This one stands out because firing IRS employees costs the government money, since they bring in about $6-8 for every dollar spent on tax enforcement
IRS Halts Layoff Plans, Begins Rehiring Amid Staffing Shortages
The agency is attempting to rebuild its workforce and restore public confidence.
Treasury Department: Treasury cut 1,446 employees on Friday. Two Internal Revenue Service employees confirmed layoffs were taking place at the tax agency, which has already shed more than 25,000 employees. One employee who was laid off was working Friday and exempt from shutdown furloughs.

Mark my words, this is the path through which Pegasus gets put on Americans iPhones & Androids.

This dictatorship-in-a-box belongs nowhere near our constitutional rights.
