I don't know the reason but it's simply a fact of life that, eg, farmers can't recruit Brits to pick crops etc. Some Dairy farmers in the Fort William area are reliant on Philippine staff to work their farms because local people don't want this type of work. Their visas are unlikely to be renewed.

Sadiq Khan is right. Raising the salary threshold for work visas to over £40,000 will affect many areas of the workforce. Many of these immigrants are performing essential work, which Brits don't want to do.

The degree to which governments of ageing societies bow to right-wing populist pressure & curb immigration across the board is entirely irresponsible & maddening. They are actively hurting their own country, its people, its economy, its health & social welfare systems.

Sir Sadiq Khan calls for pause on new immigration rules
The mayor of London said the changes had "moved the goalposts".

"Lots done. Lots more to do."

As Parliament is set to return tomorrow, here is a video the Labour government have put out to show us some of the things they have achieved in the first year.

And it's a LOOOOOOONG list.

AND Nathan Gill

But what about all the waste they told us about? What about all the savings DOGE was going to find? What about the promises to cut council tax?
It's almost as if they were just making shit up to fool people, like they did with Brexit.
jennohall.bsky.social
Quite. They are too busy with their tedious anti Labour and anti Starmer obsessions.

Well done to the Royal Marines!

They have successfully taken part in a dramatic counter-drugs interception of boats traveling at 40 knots across the Gult of Oman.

From helicopters a direct sniper shot was made into a boat engine,to knock it out.

They seized £35m of drugs, including heroin.
Royal Marines' bullseye shot stops £35m illegal drugs shipment in the Middle East
It comes as the latest in a series of drug seizures by the Royal Navy in the Gulf region.

'Stunned?' Farage's Admission He Knew Nathan Gill but Not His Kremlin Associates Does Not Stand Up to Scrutiny
Insiders have told Byline Times, it is 'inconceivable' the Reform Leader did not know about his close aide's pro Russian statements

Why are folk still voting Reform in council by elections?

The Reform UK Councils that are considering raising Council tax (one even by 10%):

Kent
Durham
West Northamptonshire
Warwickshire
Leicestershire
Worcestershire
Staffordshire
Lincolnshire

TBC:
Derbyshire
Lancashire
Eight Reform UK councils likely to raise tax next year
Despite Nigel Farage’s promises to cut waste and ‘save a lot of money’, senior officials have now admitted they will likely have to resort to tax rises

Seems @Nigel_Farage is trying damage limitation on the Reform Russian Bribes scandal.

He’s known Nathan Gill for 20 years, and claims he knew nothing.

No one believes you, Nigel.

Keep the story moving. Questions must be answered.

Exactly as predicted by any sane person. But still Reform lead in the polls and are winning by elections. It's unfathomable.

If anyone doubted that the BBC is deliberately not covering the Russian/Reform bribery scandal, those doubts should have been removed by Fiona Bruce interrupting to prevent it being discussed on BBC Question time last night. #BBCQT

The government has announced £36.5m to help Londoners facing homelessness.

This includes vital funding to help implement the Mayor of @london.gov.uk’s Rough Sleeping Plan of Action and support our work with London Councils to prevent people becoming homeless.

Notwithstanding the split on the left, 38% voted Reform. Clearly they are not following what is happening in Reform led councils, like here in Kent.

Seems Reform UK's attempt to cut council budgets with their copycat 'Trump style DOGE' has come to the reality of what we all know - that they are already stripped abare from 14 years of Tory austerity

Reform UK’s Deputy Chair Paul Nuttall, was an MEP alongside Nathan Gill.

He’s been well known for being pro-Putin, including during his UKIP leadership campaign and his strange condemnation of the EU for not recognising Russia’s Annexation of Crimea.

What does he know about Russian Bribes?
