Six years ago, I wrote most of the Tragedian dialogue for Pathologic 2 in iambic pentameter. I'm back now doing the same for Pathologic 3. I figured it was helpful to write a guide on *how* I did it – in case I get hit by a bus and the team has to carry on without me.

We've created a tool called the "Screen reader support look up tables" designed to help people quickly check how screen readers interpret HTML elements and attributes across multiple combinations of browser and screen reader.

By having better alternatives to dashboards, can we nudge stakeholders towards other, more appropriate formats?

Melissa’s latest blog post explores why dashboards are often the default for reporting, and poses some questions to consider before jumping in to creating your next one tr.ee/hAOA6Z
Maybe you don’t need a dashboard
Dashboards can be powerful—but they aren’t always the answer. Melissa explores whether a clear, one-off analysis can tell the story far better than another chart on a screen.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

The sexists do not listen to the audiophile lighthouse keeper because she is a woman. If I lived in a small town with a female audiophile lighthouse keeper, I'd heed her advice on literally anything

Should I dump him, queen?
Which cheese should I buy, queen?
Fight the fisherghosts tonight, queen?

that's the thing, if you just look around at really good rogue likes, Slay the Spire, Hades, Into the Breach, Spelunky - they all have great design to work with the randomness. Blue Prince just seems to take 'oh you do it over and over, and it's random'
joelanman.bsky.social
I think its a shame as a few design tweaks on the rogue like side would really improve it a lot. The randomness also leads to a bizarre discussion about it as some players will get lots of great runs, and other will get lots of terrible ones, so experiences are really divided

also inaccessible if you're colourblind

I like these kinds of games but Blue Prince fell flat for me. Some nice ideas but really poor design choices especially in terms of a good rogue like.
