the goal is to play baseball, not end the game, sorry

This is part of why I like the regular season extra runner because .. in theory, extra inning games that go on very long sounds fun, but in practice, they all just start to look like *this.*

I like that we've seen:
*Swing away (doesn't work)
*Fail to get the bunt down (doesn't work)
*Get the bunt down (doesn't work)

(None of the these were good bunt situations, but still fun).

Too Soon! (on the 1924 game. Goddamn pebble.)

This is the fourth winner-take-all game in postseason history to go at least 12 innings, joining:

2018 NLWCG Rockies over Cubs, 13 innings
2014 ALWCG Royals over A’s, 12 innings
1924 WS G7 Senators over Giants, 12 innings

It's not playoff hockey, but it'll do.

I know people are dedicated to believing that Dems are ignoring everything important, but nevertheless there are two Senate Democrats doing their jobs. Just as the state's governor has, and many other Dem politicians around the nation.

No, they're not perfect, but they just aren't the problem.

We’re outside of the Broadview ICE facility.

It’s clearer than ever before.

What’s happening in Illinois is an unprecedented, unlawful abuse of power.

Thought about including her. Another terrific character. But the I Claudius Livia is one of my all-time faves.

I'd try to deal with Anita HQ but such a hassle navigating through so many dense layer of bureaucracy.

Absolutely. The Founder! Weyoun! Brunt!

Well, see, there was this kid, and he cut off...oh, never mind. So it goes.

And part two. 10 villains who keep me happy:

Mojo JoJo
Drusilla
Gul Dukat
Natasha Fatale
Simon Bar Sinister
Alice Walker
Kai Win
Dr. Bellows
Gary of Gary’s Olde Towne
And Livia, who so wants to be a goddess.

Damn I forgot to keep on this. Stuff that keeps me happy and joyful, for the holiday in hard times. (The cease fire definitely helps!) So two-parter. First part:

*Bunk/McNulty going over the crime scene
*Jane Lane's hair. Really everything about Jane Lane
*Al talking to the head in the box.

i just got back from Antifa headquarters.

they're making an INSANE new set of demands.

first, the radical left is saying, "no money shall be drawn from the treasury, but in consequence of appropriations made by law."

interesting that if you say the constitution creates a separation of powers systems in which there are no kings, they think you hate america

I was thinking about that...not sure whether she actually supports what's in it or not. But either way that would be symbolic, while holds would actually do something. But it would be better than just her statement.
jonathanbernstein.bsky.social
I'll give her credit for "attempt." Of course the real question is what she's going to do about it. Strongly opposed enough to place holds on exec branch nominations? Seems unlikely.

*not weird actually pathetic

What's weird is that they cosplay the tough guy/gal and then act all meek and helpless in the face of the minority party

...and counterproductive? The more you take control the instruments of government communication, the harder it becomes to credibly blame others.

Not concerned; strongly opposed? Huh.

Yeah it's hard to credibly portray Dems as extremists when the GOP is also trying to entertain the base by publicly portraying Russ Vought as the Grim Reaper (laudatory).
A Truth Social post from Trump portraying an AI generated video of Russ Vought as the Grim Reaper with the caption "Russ Vought is the Reaper"

Using the shutdown for (probably illegal and) explicitly partisan RIFs; massive Hatch Act violations; sending the House home; blaming it on trans people and migrants. All of it pushes the "neutral" media to blame the GOP. /end
jonathanbernstein.bsky.social
There are surely a *lot* of "neutral" media folks who would be happy to call this a Dem shutdown, thus bolstering their "neutral" credentials after they called previous episodes GOP shutdowns and after they've called out Trump for plenty of things this year. But the GOP is making that hard to do.
jonathanbernstein.bsky.social
The winning GOP shutdown argument is that Dems are abusing the rules to force a shutdown (by filibuster), while Republicans are the normal ones. But while they occasionally hit on that, their messaging is all over the place and their actions constantly remind everyone that they are the rule-breakers
jonathanbernstein.bsky.social
This. Especially when most of their messages (certainly the ones from the president!) are crude insults that the strongest GOP supporters love but are unlikely to persuade anyone outside of that bubble.

I had been wondering about it myself so you gave me the push to look it up.
