The Regime's goal is to grind everyone down. Plain & simple. Our goal is to refuse this by taking turns to fight where and how we can. When one group needs to bow out, then another group needs to step in and so on. We don't all have to do everything. We can all do something though. Stay in the fight

If the regions of focus for ICE and CBP are going to shift, you're going to have to be prepared for what that means. Deep structures of trust to meet people's basic needs. An understanding that you cannot and will not know the full scope of action on a given day. Bracing for loss after loss.

If you don’t see the link between ICE and the IDF, you haven’t been paying attention. We are being asked to accept a world where whole communities are made disposable and marked for disappearance. If we accept that for anyone, no one is safe anywhere.

Still wild to see Pentecostals I long ago trusted talk about how they prayed for this hostage release for two years, knowing they also haven’t met a war they couldn’t baptize since at least 2001 and don’t care at all about Palestinians.

Rest in Power, Miss Major.💔

On solidarity: “We can’t go it alone… I mean, you can try, and get knocked down and get up and try again, and get knocked down and get up and try again. But that’s how it’ll be, until somebody helps you up and says, let me stand with you.”

1. As some Democrats have run from transgender rights, Zohran Mamdani is showing what so many others have lacked: courage to lead with his values over pandering to focus groups.

The ad is one of the best things I've seen from a politician on transgender people.

“No one is covering it” is a hook for influencers and folks who want to become the mouth pieces ( and I blame BTC)

A better question is to tell us how you found out and why finding out that way upsets you

NEW: There’s a disaster unfolding in Alaska right now. And no major network is covering it.

The remnants of Typhoon Halong battered western Alaska overnight. Homes, with people in them, have literally been swept into the Bering Strait.

At least 20 are missing. No comment from any federal agency.

The other reason I hate “no one is covering”

Is

The story “no one is covering” is often being pushed by someone who is already marginalized for covering the thing

They need acknowledgement to keep doing so

Everyone should experience the humbling effect of sending out a small request to an organizing listserve [of people who have self-selected to be on said list] and getting zero responses. It will help you to understand how hard it is to organize anything.

Wrote about the temptation to put Gaza on the back burner now that the ceasefire is solidifying—and why we can't let that happen. Gaza still needs you, and me, and everyone to fight until real Palestinian liberation is won. www.discourseblog.com/p/gaza-still...

Minneapolis deserves a champion for working people.

This is our opportunity to build a city where every single resident can thrive. I can’t wait to cast my ballot for my friend and colleague, Omar Fateh, as my first choice for mayor by November 4th, and I hope you will join me.

I’m so excited to have my Congresswoman and friend, @ilhanmn.bsky.social, on board with my candidacy for Mayor! She fights hard for the working people of Minneapolis. As Mayor, I’ll partner with leaders like her to build an affordable city that's accountable to us. secure.actblue.com/donate/fateh...

My latest is the story of how my community has rallied to protect and defend our neighbors in recent days, as ICE has targeted the Rogers Park neighborhood in Chicago. "This is not a story about a moment of victory, but a moment of being reminded of our power."

MPD (and presumably every police department but definitely NYPD) of course has always been an explicitly political entity, has always lobbied for its own goals, electoral and otherwise. It is not easy for people to see that work as political and that is part of the political work they do.

they are not "trying" to exert influence, they ARE influencing elections already.

One way we learned this in Minneapolis was when Chief Arradondo campaigned against a ballot amendment in uniform and mostly got treated as if that wasn’t him doing politics.
notalawyer.bsky.social
the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.
