Underrated classic!

“Crust” is now available to rent and own on multiple platforms (Amazon Prime, etc…) Happy to have played the tiniest part in helping it get made.

If you want to see a horror/comedy about friendship, finding yourself, and a killer sock creature made out of dried jizz and tears - this one’s for you!

The dirty little open secret to writing is that no one will ever know, nor care, how many drafts of a thing were written - people will only ever care about the crafted thing, and will, despite all knowledge to the contrary, assume it came out fully formed that way. No one thinks about shit drafts.

I miss when ‘sticking it to the man’ didn’t mean sticking it to science, history, and basic empathy.

Writing isn't magic; it's a process. It can be taught, learned, experimented with, and developed. Given enough study, practice, and workshopping, every single one of you can write something worth reading.

I started being regularly published when I was 25. I didn't make my first dollar writing until I was 30. I didn't sell my first novel or screenplay until I was 35. Many of you hadn't even heard of anything I'd written until I was over 40.

You have time. There is no expiration date on writers.

Most people think filmmaking is glamorous, but sometimes it’s finding yourself in a Walmart in deepest, darkest Canada at 9:30 on a Sunday, stocking your hotel room with embarrassing junk food so when you stagger in at 3am from a long shoot you don’t have to rely on vending machines for nourishment.

“Write every day” is generalist advice. The more you write the more the act of it becomes muscle memory responding to your thoughts and ideas. But the most important part of writing is maintaining your mental health. If you can’t write today, don’t. Take days or weekends off. Self-care is essential.
