Now live: we’ve forgotten how to forget. Let the map from A Goofy Movie remind you how to let it all go. Stops at Steven Johnson, the West Wing, the ethics of cartography, and at least seven different Goofy family trees.

An open letter to the weird-ass map from A Goofy Movie.

I've had to reach out to two different professionals for this video and in both cases the hardest part is explaining the project I'm working on, because even if I *could* explain it no one would believe I'm taking this seriously. Because the things I take seriously are truly, truly stupid

Deleting this paragraph about whether a rutabaga can be an airline pilot (with citations to three different government resources and the Code of Federal Regulations) because i have begrudgingly decided that it is not needed in this video about the role of AI in education. o7
A paragraph from a word processing file: "Surely, you might be thinking, there are rules against a rutabaga being an airline pilot. But I’m 100% sure that Federal Aviation Administration does not have a “rutabaga policy.” What they do have is requirements that prospective pilots earn a series of certificates, which requires a bare minimum of 250 hours of flight time, as well as a bunch of other stuff, all of which is enumerated in Part 61 of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations which does not include the word “rutabaga” anywhere."

a lot of RPGLit and fanfiction work that way by default, too. There have been a few books that I’ve read in book form and then realized “huh, this reads like it was serialized” and then it turns out it was

I think often about the inverse to Clarke’s famous observation: if sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic, it follows that sufficiently basic magic is indistinguishable from technology.

Microsoft shoved their AI Copilot into everything in Windows 11. Which lead to an increase in Windows 10 use. So they announced they'd stop support for Windows 10, but its usage was still strong. So they started to put Copilot into Windows 10.

Windows 7 use is surging 5x now.

AI is product poison.

Chat, can I get away with using “please understand this as shitpost and not attempted scholarship” as my email signature for work

I just made this up right now and did not do an extensive search of SCOTUS 25nd amendment case law, if it exists, so please understand this as shitpost and not attempted legal scholarship.

Also I left off prohibition and its repeal.

I know that this essay will be good. I know that when it all comes together my argument will be compelling and interesting and engaging and maybe even persuasive. But also I look at my script and see things like this and like, man. Fighting an uphill battle with what i'm like.

I think my favorite thing about Alex Easton (of @tkingfisher.com’s Sworn Soldier books) is how thoroughly and enthusiastically ka loves a neurodivergent weirdo. Ka just wander around looking for people with special interests and say “infodump on me please.” We weirdos need more characters like that

it's great! and not just because pillar is one of the nine fans of my goofy movie content. i'm constantly amazed by the extent to which pillar is able to take a complex political topic and make it personal in a way that also makes my understanding of the topic feel more meaningful

Most of the actual thrusting is done by other men before he enters the arena?

I have to assume this means he keeps everything hidden behind fabric and just thrusts wildly as she runs past.
