Majority of making video essays just feels like that one scene in Lord of the Rings where Gandalf goes off to do research for 30 years.

People don't want to accept that the primary reason that we have Trump today is that the previous administration completely failed. It should have never gotten to the point where it was in the so-called hands of the voters. It was already too late by then.

I don't know why I keep expecting there to be a bottom but ICE coming for Hmong folks feels like a unique bleakness that I am somehow still surprised by.
A St. Paul resident says federal officers knocked on her door and asked her to identify Hmong and Asian households in her North End neighborhood last week.
ICE in St. Paul: Man roughly detained at gas station, Border Patrol chief jeered in Midway Target
Videos and photos show a prevalence of federal agents in St. Paul recently.

This poll shows that 74% of Democrats support abolishing ICE, with 53% *strongly* supporting getting rid of the agency.

Any elected Democrat who wants ICE to exist is outside the mainstream of their party and the people they purport to represent.
YouGov poll - In the future, would you support or oppose...

Eliminating ICE as a federal agency?
Support 42%
Oppose 45%

Reducing ICE’s size and funding
Support 48%
Oppose 37%

The best thing about following podcasters on bsky is that your brain lets you hear every post shouted at you in their own voice
FINALLY, a leader willing to end the war on protein
I thought this was a joke but it’s an actual post from the White House: “we are ending the war on protein”

How about ending the war on the health of this country?

Centrists are simply right-wingers who are embarrassed to identify as such.
The reactionary centrist logic is simple: if the left does something bad it’s the left’s fault, and if the right does something bad, it’s also the left’s fault for making them do it. It’s a simple formula and once you see it every one of their arguments is the same

Today, the US President claimed to The NYT that the only limits that exist on his power, in domestic or international matters, are “his own morality.”

Where are the elected Democrats?

Articles of Impeachment. EVERY. DAY.

Rallies. EVERY. DAY.

Mourning. EVERY. DAY.

Fucking SAY SOMETHING.

im sorry i know it sucks but journalists are going to have to be willing to get fired for simply describing what they see happening with their own eyes, you look like fucking morons
"Was the officer struck by the vehicle, as President Trump insists, or did the car pass by or around him?"
If we only had some trusted institution that could adjudicate between competing claims by relying on facts.

“Federal officials said” is not journalism. Report the facts, not the statements. If the statements do not align with the facts, the reporting can only be “federal officials lied.”

This is core mechanic of journalism in the age of epistemic collapse, imo. Statements are reported, because “Trump says” is indisputable. (He did say it!) Facts cannot be reported, because there is space for interpretation and disagreement. The NYT will never call a lie a lie. “ICE says” is safer.
the nyt says that no version of events in minneapolis can be "verified independently." but that's not true! there are multiple videos proving that the ICE version of events is a total lie. maybe the nyt can, y'know, watch one of them? www.nytimes.com/live/2026/01...

Be annoying! Slow everything down! Make big public pronouncements! Don’t just roll over!
I know people believe that the Democrats are in the minority and can't do anything. I would encourage you to read about how, in fact, minority parties can be disruptive. If they want to be. You don't even have to read. You can just see how the Republicans acted during the Obama years.
