you don't need lower standards. you need less self-worth tangled up in your goals. the work gets easier when it's not about proving who you are.

Yep! Got some iffy stuff in there because, you know, the 80s and comic books and all, but the soap opera drama combined with high-stakes superhero action works REALLY well and you understand why DC has kept trying to recapture this team dynamic again and again over the years.
